Need new terms for a lot of things. When unemployment goes up less than expected, that's an "improvement." When less people file for unemployment one month to the next, that's an "improvement." When cutting the *increase* of the budget, that's "saving money." UGH.
First, what happens when you tell someone you can't do something? They go off to do it. Forbidden fruit and all that.
Second, content producers just don't want to let us buy stuff like any other normal product. Music and video come with DRM, so we can't make a backup copy (*cough*). It's not like they will provide me (outside of Disney) a replacement at a reduced price. Just give me an unencumbered disc/file. (And preferable at some type of reasonable price.)
And therein lies their problem. CRT to LCD was a huge upgrade in terms of quality. Even a modest LCD with an HD source is pushing what the eye can see. I can read ESPN's scrawl at 15 feet on a 32" set as easily as I can read this sentences on my laptop that is sitting on my lap.
Increased quality will only be incremental. If, and that's a big if, they can make a proper, glasses free 3D TV, that would be the next big step. Besides that, they're just going to throw out all kinds of gimmicks. New HDI inputs are not going to cause people to upgrade, nor will new streaming features.
I get the sending info to multiple places. Are they talking about sending different streams to these monitors/what-have-you? Otherwise it just sounds like tossing in a splitter in the video signal.
Yes, I did read TFA, and I guess I'm missing something. Help please?
"The patent abuse that has been turning Apple from one of the world's most loved companies into the most hated" I think you mean Slashdot's most hated. How many people outside of the industry even know about the patent wars? 3? People get shiny, people are happy. Industry is busy kicking each other in the nuts.
The local EAS messages pop up all the time on my TV and radio. Are the FEMA one's going to have videos of aliens blowing shit up and people melting? Someone screaming "Run for the hills, we're all going to die!!!!!" ? It's a freaking annoying noise with someone blabbering, usually "This is just a test." Sometimes I hear about a Megan(?) alert.
"I don't think it's a valid response to the problems. Now, if you'd pushed for harsher sentences, greater fines, etc. to try to put people off repeat offending, then your argument would at least be consistent."
What, the $74 trillion fine wasn't enough?! Shall we go to 12 gabazoolians now?

UGH.
Less competition for the unemployed here.

Me too.
Not parking garages, interstellar highways. Unfortunately, they do poetry reading while building the highways.
It's a sliding scale.
That is fascinating, horrifying, and WTF! all at the same time.
Wow, coming from an AC. Bravo.
Thank you. That was driving me nuts.

In Soviet Russia, mumbling owns you?
Feel free to turn your computer off.
A few articles ago there was an article about a better way to pack balls into something.
Now this story.
Coincidence? You decide.

Your logic disturbs me.
Well, I'm out of waffles for breakfast. I think my pantry needs a revamp.

And wouldn't it be nice if actual real people could get all the perks of being a corporation, too? Corporation = person is the most nut-numbing idea.
But where do I find these people so I can slap them with a fish? Soon they'll be complaining that it's not fair they have to wipe their own butts.
