Thanks for the link. I looked up Niven's books, but couldn't remember which ones dealt with it.

So how does the Wondrous AC approach scientific articles?

Gives me an idea for why there are AC's now:
    1) Troll with no balls
    2) Talk big, still no balls
    3) Purposely stupid, no balls
    4) Did it so they can wank to responses (yes, I'm guilty of facilitation)
    5) Completely clueless, spouts off random nonsense. May have balls, but can't find them.

    6) The actual use for AC- reporting something. Big balls.

Not in itself a bad idea, but currently when workers get into their 50's, companies started laying them off for younger, cheaper staff. Which is shortsighted since you have someone that has tons of experience, and now you have to get the new guy years of experience to catch up. But back to oldies, are they supposed to work at the supermarket for the next 50 years?

(Just so you know, my parent, now retired at 68, have saved enough that they are not sucking at your teat.)

Niven wrote a story(ies?) about that. At one point there were organ banks, and the smallest infringement of law got you sent there. Sorry, can't remember the name.

Did anyone read TFA? It's all happy Easter Bunny and Santa dropping Christmas presents type stuff. The doc even acknowledged that a lot of the various diseases "still need to be worked on." Maybe they'll find some drugs that can extend lifetimes a bit at first, and then work from there. They're not flipping a switch and suddenly everyone lives to 150.

If this stuff works, if will be gradual and society will have time to adjust. The average lifespan has been increasing slowly for centuries (and yes, I know about the artificial depressing of lifespan due to infant mortality). And you know that these drugs will not be dropped from planes to everyone in the world for free. So take a deep breath and relax. Our world is going to continue to be a mess for a long time, so you still have plenty of time to look down and yell at everyone from your high moral standpoint about how the rest of us are clueless and whatnot.

    C'mon!

    Moving on...
TFA was light on the technicals, but if they could get circuits to be able to rewire themselves, it would be interesting to see if it could be used for self-repairing devices.
One downside is that they are using "electrically conductive particles," which makes me wonder how sensitive these particles would be to external EM fields, or even a voltage spike.

A few weeks ago someone here suggested Ghostery to me. Wow, so many trackers. I spent the next few days deleting a how bunch of them as I progressed through my usual sites.
AFAIK, AdBlock just keeps the ads from showing, but by doing so it may also block the tracker.
To be safer, I use both.

I had forgotten about how bad ads have become since I started using AdBlock. On one site with a forum, I would occasionally here a complaint about the person confusing the ad with the content (um, really?). On one of my favorite sites, the guy runs it as a hobby, so he depends on ad revenue. He offhandedly mentioned something about money, so I disabled AdBlock- wow, what a difference. But I like the site enough to deal with it.

TFA says that 2 sections were removed from the original document. Redacting is different from removal, as one just hides text while the other just makes it go bye-bye. Plus there were some other edits and additions. Shouldn't this be viewed as 'version 2.0' as opposed to 'redacted?' Yes, it seems they tried to slide the changes by quietly, but the word redacted encompasses a whole different set of issues.
