"...there should be no problem with normal stores like Walmart or EB selling GTA."

No kidding- my wife, who is 31, actually had to show her driver's license to buy Robitussin at Walmart's last week. We got into a discussion with the cashier; the register prompts them to ask for ID for cough medicine, Pseudophed, even brake fluid (I think, whatever is used to make meth).

It would be no problem for retailers to do the ID thing and then the parents would be able to buy their kids "Whack a Mole for the Ho" or whatever. (Hmmm, sounds like a good title.....)

One thing I have not noticed mentioned yet is that no one is questioning the "productivity" angle. Are not most jobs quantifiable in some way? I mean, this worker was not conjuring spirits or some such? When you hire someone, you usually tell them you need to do such and such, in such amount of time, or something like that. Did they hire this person to perfect the fung shei of the library?

Once again managers, bosses, supervisors not giving a whole lot of thought into what their people are supposed to do and how that work gets evaluated. If you can not figure out an employees productivity fairly easily, then you have problems.

Ok, I see people just itching to reply about writing software, how it's so hard to define progress, how you can not do it just by lines of code per day or functions per week. This is true (mostly), but if you give at least rough timetables for when things should be done, who cares if only one line of code is done on Tuesday if the module is done on Thursday?

My guess, the boss knew the employee had access to better porn and was just trolling to find it.

What about magazines- the publisher or the buyer?

Can we get a 1 cent discount if we recycle a magazine? 2 cents for a beer bottle?

I know that computers are a bit different because of the caustic bits insides them, but so are several plastics if "disposed of" incorrectly.

Sorry for the rant, I just wish the government would take off 11 months of the year and spend the other month worrying about things that really mattered.

He was also 40-something and still living with his mother (only moved out to go to college) in her purple house, and was, to put it midly, rather effeminate.

Well, I did the 10-10-3, which is pretty close to what I actually do (varies from 8-12 movies per month), and I have never had a 7 day turnaround period. In a period of around 2 years. I occasionally get an extra day or 2 on processing, but most times they email me saying the got the movie the day after I mail it, and then email me the same day or the day after saying the mailed out the next movie (must be a USPS thing as to what time they get their shipment of movies). And the next day I get my movie. So, usually 3 days turnaround, sometimes 2, and occasionally 4-5 days.

I think someone should do a comparison of where people have bad experiences to the distribution site they are closest to. Maybe some distribution sites are worse than others? Maybe on purpose? I use the southeastern PA site, which is kinda close to my house, so maybe that helps, also.

I don't deny that some people have had bad experiences, and I'm pretty sure that at some points in the past that I dropped way down on the queue list for really popular movies, but I don't believe the evidence is there suggesting that Netflix is deliberately trying to screw their customers.

    Just a few thoughts.
