No no no, I understand that perfectly (I study Computer Science).
Original AirPort was supposed to give at max 11mbps. So, seeing 1MB/sec, making it really 8mpbs makes sense, because the device will never run optimally.
With the g AirPort hardware going around 2MB/sec, this is 16mbps, which is less than the 10-12 mentioned, which is my point.
I'm not suprised by this at all. Transfers over FTP from one 802.11g equipped PowerBook to another only went at about 2 megs/sec, which sure isn't 54mbps.
Though this is twice as fast as the 802.11b AirPort cards which would max about at around 1 meg/sec. And since those are supposed to go at 11, would saying 10-12 for g be a little underestimated?
seem to be carrying around cell phones these days. And it seems a lot of them support AOL Instant Messenger.
When cell phone prices eventually drop to the point where everyone can afford them (which I guess may be now), then an IM only device will be kind of unnecessary. That is, unless it's a dirt cheap service.
But just because one person is disappointed is nothing to get in fuss over. Simple him saying "AI progress is disappointing" means almost nothing. There are plenty of people out there researching it.
Macs have been able to recognize the spoken command "Tell me a joke" for at least 8 years;)
That Java is lacking a few things I'd expect from such a popular language.
Now, I'm not the most experienced programmer in the world, but I've found that unlike other languages (especially C++), lots of different common tasks don't have standard methods for doing things. This suprises me primarily because the JDK is chock full of built-in-abstact-data-type goodness (I'll never write another Linked List again =D ).
In C++, where you have cin, with Java, there are a number of different setups that produce the same behavior. However, most of these seem non-trivial when compared to the simplicity that libaries like C++'s iostream provide.
So I feel adding common shorthand tasks is a good thing. If you know what you're doing with things like enumerators, you aren't going to cause much damage.
The new get-rich-quick scheme:
1. Get a Hotmail/Yahoo account
2. Get rich.

But I can see right through this little transparent scheme.
Oops, thanks for clarifying.

Opera 6.02 is slated for release on Thursday
You weren't paying attention to the article. It said Opera 6.02 would come out Thursday, which could very well be your Wednesday night.
"Theres no way they can hot wire it."
BMW used to say that too. Thieves are better at these things than most people think they are.
Scientists then discovered that Apes have a 100% DNA match with Vin Diesel.
Now the rich guy's AIBO can find free porn passwords and get a REALLY good APR on a home loan.
The AIBO now can provide excellent home security. Of course, a 120lb pitbull can provide good security too, and could be purchased for $100.

The beauty of this is that you won't have to reboot either computer to do all that file swapping. Just share, appl-K, and you're ready.
really nice for computers like my 12in PowerBook which only have 100T ethernet.
In testing, I've found FTPing over a FireWire cable has very lovely results.
The "specific set of operations" a.k.a doing anything, with the "specific set of data" a.k.a. any data can cause serious problems.

Get a room why dontcha!
Wow you really did a number on here then, eh?
Cell Phones don't mix with anything.
Cell + Driving = Death
Cell + Extended Use = Brain Tumor -> Death
Although they've done wonder for the Tiny-Blue-LED Industry.

The goths that hang out in my hometown hang out at the movie theatre, smoking cloves, and showing each other their "scars of freedom".
That's goth.
And their where spelling mistakes too. Life Expectance is overrated.
