  1. More than meets the Eye... on Sega, Nintendo Team Up To Create New Graphics Board · · Score: 0

Nintendo (of Europe) says they will be releasing games on GCN as they will in the arcade. The hardware in Triforce is the same as in a GCN, so porting isn't even an issue. I'm sure there will be some sort of modifications made to a triforce board to but Nintendo says Triforce games will be available for cube right off the bat. The arcade and home versions will get released simulataniously.

Also of interest is the GBA compatibility. Triforce will be GBA combatible and will trade info will your home version. Soul Caliber 2 will work this way, with you having to buy a seperate GBA cart.

So all in all it is a very curious affair. Even Capcom is going to be working on something.

By redistributing information for each other rather than paying Ma Bell, we allow ourselves a greater level of freedom.

There's a whole new level of communication out there that we haven't explored yet. I still don't understand why websites aren't ran off peer-to-peer networks. Thousands of people read slashdot everyday, copying the same info over and over, yet each and every person gets it from the same, single source.

I was just at the mall and saw a shooter game like this, like Virtua Cop. You put your feet on 2 footprints and as you played the game, you could move your physcal body to dodge, duck, and change perspective. It was very cool. I was impressed by the accuracy of the motion dectectors to translate your own movements into the game. Unfortunatly, the actual game-play was rather difficult and not very much fun. Cool nonetheless.

  15. Cube Club Minneapolis on Nintendo Game Cube On (Limited) Preview In 12 Cities · · Score: 0

All the games there were not exactly mind blowing, but nothing was without merit.

I wasn't immediatly sold on anything like I was when I first saw Devil May Cry, but most of the games were intruiging, beautiful, and fun. Here's my impressions:

Super Smash Bros 2: It seems basically the same but with a slew of new features and characters. I found it strange that you used the Z button (located above the R button) for grabbing. I had heard that Nintendo did not want to use it for in game use, but rather as an option button. It worked ok though. Priness Peach's kicks were great - really intense. It was a fun game but nothing all that new.

Rouge Leader 2: Very beautiful and exciting. This one's going to hurt my social life. They hooked it up to surround sound and you could hear where the TIEs wher eflying around you. I found the 3D radar confusing, but it probably takes some gettng used to.

Monkey Ball: Didn't play it that much but I know it will be fun. Its Sega's game after all.

Pikmin: What an odd game. The lush background were spectacular, looking almost photo realistic. The game play was totally crazy - you had like 4 minutes to traverse the land as do whatever is you need to do. That is, break walls; hunt enemies, and drag "pills" back to base to get more Pikmin. The longer you let Pikmin grow in the ground (thats not a typo), the stronger they become. The music was great.

Star Fox Adventures: By far the most beautiful game there. It's simply gorgeous. I thought Nintendo sliped some acid on the controller or something. The gameplay was also very immersive. One of my favorite parts was when I put my spear in a peg hole in the ground. The spear started to shake and glow as it charged up, then it blasted me into the air to reach the platform above. It was very cool. This will be Nintendo's first hit if Star Wars doesn't do it.

Luigi's Mansion: Waaaaay fun. The graphics are sweet and I loved the music. It's totally hip. If it weren't so short I'd buy it but that won't happen until it's price drops some. This is really a fun game, probably the best one player game out (with Rouge Leader at a very close 2nd. I just think this will be a funner game).

Madden and Courtside - didn't play them but they were popular amongst your non-gamer type. The rules appeared to be sport regulation, but Courtside was 2on2 I think. They looked good but the human animation and physics left more to be desired. It didn't have that spunk real people do, like they played off so well in Devil May Cry.

About Gamecube sport games. I'm disapointed Nintendo cancelled their in house football game. I saw a video demo of the cheerleaders in action and it was great. Very bouncy ;) and with good music. Its a shame it will probably never see the light of day as it was looking good. Try to find the demo if you can. IGN's got it somewheres. It's made by whoever was doing Ravenblade and Metroid (Retro?).

Nintendo's launch blows Sony's out of the water and sky high. These are very fun games. If you are open to new types of gameplay and like fun vids, definitely consider Nintendo.

All they need is some strong 3rd party support and they've got it made in the shade. I can't wait to see what else Nintendo's got on the back burner.

I'm wondering if you even deserve a response. Is this flame-bait? Like, where the hell did that all come from? Sometimes I think its better to approach unwanted behaivor with a dose of compassion, lest you come off as a wailing lunatic *cough* *cough*. You have a point though - I don't know if its a world wide trend or what, but most people I know barely recognize anything outside their own concerns. Its a valid note because sometimes people get hurt when others choose to ignore selfishly.

Anyone remember that stoty of the stabbing with a dozen witnesses, but no one bothered to call police until it was too late? Or about Jeffery Damer's nieghboors who heard screams and moaning but neglected to investigate? Although instances like these are extreme, and people can get hurt when your ::too:: paranoid, its this type of blatent disregard of what your spirit is trying to tell you that causes trouble. There is also a lot of harm and good achieved when it's not. (Forgive my terminology, but its the best model I've found. Spirit, dreaming, tao, Jesus, global brain, my left pinkie toe - pick your poison).

Your concerns are valid, but criticism doesn't ussually achieve anything. It will only create a barrier that will ensure your perspective will be disregarded (in my opinion). Communication can only occur between equals. So better to act compassionate and in the interest of those who you are trying to convey with. And if your not interested in those people, why bother with them? ;)

I've been reading some stuff by Arnold Mindell that I really like. He's genuinely concerned with our world and it's conflicts and acts the part. Racism, oppression, abuse, schizofrenia - plus much much more! Really though, if you're interested in ways to get this globe out its funk, Mindell is an insightful author with provactative ideas.

I've always thought about how cool it would be to make OSes on DVDs. It'd be great to replace our hard drives with something like this. Skiners could reach new hieghts with beutiful OSes that would make Mac OS X Aqua cry with shame. I've often wanted to see new developments with ways we intereact with our computers. Maybe a format like this open up a doorway in that direction.

If it was rewritable, it'd add a whole new dimension to chain letters.

Unfortunatley with storage sizes this large, we can expect to see some opposistion to the rewritable factor from our friendly neighborhood big-wigs. :(

    I hope it breaks though.
