Never said you were. I said I'd like to see the "pro life" Catholics and Baptists put their fat, overfed asses on the line and be genuinely "pro life" in the Sudan.
B) If they did, you would complain about the apparent hypocrisy of a Christian military group
Nope. In fact, I'd applaud them for putting their fat, overfed asses on the line for poor, victimized Africans.
C) How did we go from helping people dying of starvation and easily treatable disease to military intervention?
How did you not know about the rapes and murders of christians in south Sudan by the arab militias? Oh, right. You really don't care a fat rat's ASS about them, save as a temporary prop for your rhetoric.
D) Martyrdom is a part of virtually every religion (unfortunately), and cannot be compared to the effects of famine or disease
Oh, so now the raped and murdered are martyrs! That makes it SO MUCH different and better. They'll get their reward in Heaven, right? Which makes up for the agony and fear that's part of being raped and murdered here on Earth.
Let me know when the Catholics and Baptists arm themselves, join forces and travel to protect at gunpoint the christians in Darfur/Sudan against the diverse arab militias that are raping and murdering them at the behest of the government of Sudan.
Then you can talk about churches and charitable groups.
As opposed to YOUR absurd comparison of "socialism" and the current administration?
Humanoid, please!
Compared to any of the socialist countries in Europe, the Obama administration is a right wing ultra capitalist regime.
Frankly, if you think Obama administration is "socialist", I must insist that you cease using the Internet this instant, before you get your stupid all over everything.
"I always wondered why they even bothered to include PCI slots on these machines, when it was such a pain to get to them.I"
What the hell are you talking about? The 6400 had an easily removed backpanel, revealing a slide out logic board. Installing or removing PCI cards, adding RAM or a processor upgrade was simplicity itself.
It is only slightly more difficult to get the front panel off, accessing the main hard drive, optical drive, ZIP drive (tossed and replaced by another hard drive) and an empty bay for a SCSI drive.
At no point did I imply that car theft was "good for the econonmy", just it doesn't materially or financially adversely affect the car company that made/sold the stolen car.
DO try to read what I wrote, and not infer that which is not there.
"That's as dumb as saying "there is ZERO link between lost revenue and car theft because they are from people that would never have done business in the first place.""
The automobile company has lost zero money. That stolen car was already purchased FROM the company. They have the money.
Indeed, car theft is GOOD for car companies. Obviously, the person who has had his car stolen (and not recovered) is going to need another car, which will likely be purchased for him by his insurance company.
If the car IS recovered, theft is still good for the car company. In most instances, there is some significant damages done to the car in the act of stealing it. Replacements parts must be bought.
"When someone runs something in Windows, and it infects their machine it's "stupid windows". But, when someone runs something in Linux under ROOT, and infects their machine, it's "stupid user"."
Exactly. It's no big deal for me to run Mac OS under a user account, and switch to root when I need to. Mainly for Software Update and when I'm installing something that needs the admin password.
(To be honest, half the time, I don't know if I'm root or not. OK, right now, not root.)
Should be the same with Linux. One doesn't need root to play a game or send email or play a video or anything else that takes up 90+% of the CPU cycles.
If any Windows software requires that it be run as root, then yes, stupid Windows and doubly stupid Windows software developers.
If any Mac OS software requires that it be run as root (save for installation), well, GODDAMN STUPID Mac OS and quadruply Mac OS developers!
And yet, my Mac OS X install comes from the factory with all the security features turned on by default.
In my twenty some years of Mac OS usage, I have run into exactly ONE virus, on a used Color Classic I bought. A quick application of the freeware Disinfectant took care of that.
If you want to spend all that time, securing your Windows installs, go right ahead.
As long as MS continues to ship a product that, essentially, lies there, it's legs in the air, it's underwear nowhere to be seen, and loudly demanding:
"RAPE ME! RAPE ME RIGHT NOW, GODDAMMIT!"
You're going to be spending a lot of time tweaking your Windows installs.
Me, I prefer to click "Install", come back 30 minutes later, click a few more times and have a BY DEFAULT secure OS ready and waiting.

VERY well done, indeed!
I bow thrice in thy honored direction!
...Anthem!
Botnets, worldwide botnets.
What kind of boxes are on botnets?
Compaq, HP, Dell and Sony, TRUE!
Gateway, Packard Bell, maybe even Asus, too.
Are boxes, found on botnets.
All running Windows, FOO!

Why, yes, I AM a smug bastard who's running Mac OS X. Thanks for asking!

I would think 10 kilos or so of kæstur hákarl would be a fair exchange for each of the MS contracts.
So, this epiphany about Social Security and "personal integrity", did this occur before or after you read Ayn Rand?

Whereas I'm overjoyed that the state is still prevented from exercising hegemony over a class of competent adult citizens. I.E., women.
Because what this comes down to is this:
If the state controls your uterus, you are the property of the state. You breed at their whim, regardless of contraceptive failure, rape, incest etc.
So you're now claiming that you didn't write the following:
" That's what happens when you let capitalist foxes into the socialist henhouse, so to speak. "
Hard to imagine that you weren't referencing the current administration.

Good day, sir!
Based upon your understanding of what socialism is, is this YOU in the documentary "Right America"?
Really, doughy, illiterate and a head full of piercings is no way to go through life, boy!
Ever been downwind of a pig factory farm?
No?
Then you have no idea what nauseating stench really means.
Yeah, spend some money to improve quality of life for those who live near one of these places.
(and to the Libertarian wankers who are even now typing that those offended by odors should move: Please FOAD, now!)
"I'm not sure what the point is..."
Some people like to open their machines and fiddle with them, adding their own RAM, installing larger harddrives, overclocking the CPU, etc.
They're called"hardware hackers".
Sometimes, it's done simply to save a little money. Sometimes it's done for the fun of messing around with the hardware.
As the folks from MAKE magazine say, "If you can't open it, you don't own it!"
"I always wondered why they even bothered to include PCI slots on these machines, when it was such a pain to get to them.I"

Replying to my reply.

DO try to read what I wrote, and not infer that which is not there.
The automobile company suffers no injury nor financial loss whatsoever from the theft of the car.
They have already been paid in full via the loan taken out tourchase the car.
Yes, there is inconvenience and loss for the car owner.
But the auto company really doesn't care a fat rat's ass what happens to that particular car. They have their money, they have recouped their expense.
Thus, your "broken window" example is refuted.
