The Feds already have my prints. I gave them up voluntarily. The Feds have my SSN. What could Apple or any other company do with my prints that could hurt me? What's next? Wear rubber gloves to WalMart?
Are you speaking of the legal variety of immigrants or illegal? I don't know of any test required of illegal immigrants.
And why would you desire to wage on my ability to pass or not pass a test in comparison to an immigrant - legal or otherwise?
So does this mean a new revenue generator (concealed as a tax) is soon to be placed on vehicles? Will California now sell advertising on these new tags? You heard it from me first.
....solving goes with personal responsibility. Let's just stop with all these labels and quit coming up with "psychological" excuses for personal failings. Internet addiction? Why don't we simply call it all "self control" before we have chip addictions, toilet addictions, cologne addictions and video game addictions - all covered under ObamaCare....
Missing the point. Do we need to create a "chip-a-holic" inpatient treatment program for those folks who are unable to only eat one serving of chips (which is around 7)?
Sure, personal responsibility and problem silv
Beat me to the punch. I like this place, but I notice a few users here every time I stop by. That's either one hell of a coincidence or those folks are here all the time.
Just don't expect insurance to cover your expenses. I love all these little "problems" the world invents - working so hard to absolve people of personal responsibility.
Private schools are about choice. I want the freedom to send my kids to private schools, public schools or even homeschool. Why is it considered bad if I choose not to support something I believe to be bad for my kids? This reminds me of those people who push me to buy "American Made" cars - just to support a company that refuses to change for the better. The freedom of choice - choosing what's econ
Well, that sounds good in theory, but I doubt that any laws would be written in such a way as to actually cure the problem. Usually too many loopholes in the laws. Like the "established business relationship" in telemarketing laws. Oh, and there's always the NSA....
Why? I love my Canadian friends, but with all the real problems awaiting solutions - why are we concerned with putting Canadians on the Moon? Scratching my head again...
So let Office run its course. But depending on it for the future hardly seems like a solid business strategy. People use office because its what they've always used - what they're familiar with and MS has played that game very well - but there's no future in it.
You're missing my point. I have no problem with Office. But a there's a huge difference between allowing a cash cow to run its course - and depending on it for the future.
Outside of Office, Windows and Xbox, what does Microsoft have going for it? Bing? that's laughable! Alternatives are becoming more readily available every day. You can't rely on the past and stay on top in the future.
People pointing to the success of Office to defend the current Microsoft business strategy is the kind of thinking that's gotten MS into this position.
You think a good business strategy is to rely on making minuscule changes to spreadsheets and word processors - expecting - consumers to buy the new version?? Why would anyone want Office 2010 when Office 2007 is capable of doing more than 99% of existing users care about? All this while OpenOffice (completely free) is capable of meeting the needs of 99% of spreadsheet and word processing users. Seriously? You think there's a big $$$ future in the continued development and deployment of Office 2011, 2012....2024? Seriously? Okay, now I've told you. And that's free from me to you...;)

A watch like this will be awesome when we're able to interface with it holographically.
It's all about the interface. If you can interface well with the watch to accomplish the task - it should be a winner.
Also, I don't imagine all of the former Soviet Union spoke Russian, or did they?
I wonder how many "Americans" can only speak Spanish?
Could use the same information to improve places.

Are you suggesting that Slashdot readers actually have friends?

Why? It's not like every Mom & Pop operation around could enter this contest to begin with....
Microsoft still has that brilliant cash cow and business stronghold - Office - to power them through these tough times. /sarcasm
Looks like Mr President needs to stir the international pot - make a crisis - to take the eyes off of his accumulating presidential failures....

Tracking information is worth billions of dollars. With that much money on the line - we'll be tracked like escaped inmates - one way or another.
