Why do you think the Rails developers are amateurs?
Anyways, the answer is probably something along the lines of "more complexity = more enterprisey = more money". Corporate execs are big fans of "enterprise" software, cuz enterprise software is adventureous and complex and hard and stuff.
I don't see at all how that states that the federal government is immune to patent infringement claims. Seems to me that it's saying that goverment organizations are treated in the same way as any nongovernment entity.
Assuming microsoft is not discontinuing support for Win2k or XP for some time, why would businesses be inclined to change what currently works for them?
Uh, what does "use IE" have to do with anything? The guy was complaining about having to use different versions of Acrobat Reader for different applications on his intranet.
Ah, good catch. It doesn't seem to specifically exclude the federal government, but IANAL and so don't know if that really matters.
So, if the federal govt can infringe on copyrights, that means that they could essentially copy any patented thing and release it as public domain?

Ruby has Migrations, which allows you to create database tables from pure Ruby code.
I'ts what I use. So I never have to manually create any database fields or tables.

How the hell do you know that they don't scale? Have you tried it? It's called the 'share nothing' approach. Livejounal and yahoo both use it.

If you have, say, ten methods for dating something, and all of them give you the same age back, I'd say that's fairly conclusive evidence.
Do you also ask "if someone hasn't walked to the sun, and counted every step that they took, how do we know that the sun is 8 million miles away"?
Own cache? Sweet! How many megs?
"Robot speak"? WTF?
I'm not seeing any implied insult or any negative tone.
It ain't cheaper to drive when you factor in the costs of buying and maintaining a car.
Yeah, the U.S. doesn't make anything.
We don't make airplanes. Or software. Or medicine. And we certainly don't design anything.
What the fuck does this have to do with the RIAA?
Are they the only ones with IP now?
How is a scripting language not a programming language?
Bullshit. Microsoft has contributed patches to GAIM, a GPL chat client.
Ruby on Rails (http://www.rubyonrails.com/ makes unit and functional testing very very easy.
It's incredibly easy. One of the reasons why I like the framework so much.

That's a lot of bugs. And I haven't even noticed any of them. :(
Heh, Angel, right?
I wish they had kept going for one more season and ended the show properly.
There's a lot more than 250 guardsmen in there right now.

Have you heard any statements from anyone saying that there's not enough military equipment available in the states?
Uh, the guy that you're responding to never said "1,400 today, 1,00 tomorrow, and 1,400 the next day".
Tell me, where are the inaccuraries in the guy's post? Are his numbers wrong?
I have a 1680x1050 display and would really like to display games at that native resolution. A 6600GT isn't quite powerful enough for that.
Actually, this is a slower (and cheaper) card than Nvidia's last release.
(that's why the article said "scaled back version")
Who's saying anything about "excusing Microsoft's bad behavior"?
Uh, what does "use IE" have to do with anything? The guy was complaining about having to use different versions of Acrobat Reader for different applications on his intranet.
How can I have my application built cheaply and well (assuming that it will be slow)?
I assume that I'm paying per hour.
