See the left hand side of the trailer? That's the high speed core memory. My dad designed core memory back inthe 60s for Ampex. My dad also told me that I could never find a career in the computer industry citing my lack of interest in math. I am a liberal arts drop out from the late 70s and I dance on his grave these days, raking in five times what he ever earned with his EE degree from Villanova. Sure, he could figure out how to thread three extremely thin filaments of wire through thousands of microscopic magnetized donuts, but I can wire Spring and Hibernate into a very "enterprisey" web application.
Thank you, Dad. Thank you, ESR. Thank you, Bill G.
He's trying to help us now. He's in the trenches with all of the victims of spam across the country. He's offering us his unique knowledge to help protect us now. He's one of us, guys, really. Here's a sample quote off of his Anti-Spam blog that will show you that his kind of knowledge is just what we need in this spam jihad.
How's this for inside info from a veteran spammer? "Do not put your email address on your website. Email spiders look across all websites looking for email addresses that can be used to spam."
and this one... "If you do start getting emails, unsubscribe yourself from those emails as soon as you get those emails."
Wait, there's more! "If a spammer is being persistent, then you can report the spammer to its ISP. This starts to get technical...[extreme technical info about using tracert from a DOS command window]"
Oh boy, thanks to Ryan Pitylak, we really have those spammers on the run now!!!
Eastern Europe has been using a similar approach to treating bacterial infections that are resistant to antibiotics for almost 80 years. Wired magazine ran an article about bacteriophages in their October 2003 issue.
A bacteriophage basically a virus that attaches itself to a bacteria cell and injects it's own DNA into the cell. The DNA replicates and eventually the bacteria cell bursts releasing more phages that will attach to other bacteria cells. The phage virus is not harmful to humans and can be found in water from your local stream.
If a reovirus can be used in a similar way, then maybe cancer patients will finally have some hope.
Two shareware apps that come to mind immediately are UltraEdit (text editor) and BeyondCompare (file comparison tool). Both are full featured professionally designed applications with good support and updates that contain true enhancements and bug fixes. It is hard to find shareware that isn't a one-off program that the developer tires of supporting after realizing that he isn't going to make a millions dollars in license sales.
Look. Since the demise of Napster, I have not shared my MP3 collection with anyone. Also, I have not purchased a CD produced by an artist whose music I have not heard before.
If it wasn't for Napster/file sharing, there would be no Metallica in my car's CD changer. If it wasn't for Napster, I never would have found Rachelle Garniez.
The music industry is the horse and it's kicking itself to death.
An angry mob showing up at the offices of the company that installed his T1 will stop him and Ralsky will never know what hit him. If worse comes to worse, can you say "bolt cutters on the trunk line"?

There's a site that takes it a step further. Sending anonymous email and then posting the contents of the message.

I completely agree here. Some of Philly's inner city public schools are a mess. Any help they can get is good for the kids.

Windows 98 or better? You mean I have to upgrade my Windows 95 machine?

Harry's hair isn't near as blue as Neal's. But I suppose we should really base our opinions on the talent competition and not on appearance.
3: Know a bit of basic algorithms.
Basic??!! They wrote the kernel in Basic? Hell, a monkey could write Basic code.
So the speed of light has changed. It's a little bit faster. How does this affect my stock options?
