The other day I was at the camera store behind some lady who had a corrupted memory card, which caused her to loose all her pictures...
But hey, I agree - digital photography makes a lot of sense, that's why I prefer digital cameras from companies that originally made film cameras. At least they have learned a few things over the years.
I recall when it was considered a feature that certain SLRs would still take pictures if the batteries were dead. This was considered a must have for photographers in tough conditions such as war zone. Now batteries are like crack for digital cameras, they freakin need it all the time.
I second that. Either G4's demographic research is completely wrong, or I have reason to be depressed at what typical computer users are like these days.
FWIW, my teenagers could give a flying #@@#! about G4 et al.
There is a difference between a VB clone that includes features based on merit and usefullness, rather than the real VB which is driven by a corporate agenda.
We send out a spacecraft with a plaque theorizing someone could intercept it. Do we think hurling a bomb is any less likely to be found by an alien civilization?
There are also other benefits, like eliminating that pesky Linux distribution from being installed (www.xbox-linux.org) or to stem the pirating of games by copying them onto the XBOX hard drive.
I had expected lower quality from Microsoft, so it doesn't surprise me.
The irony is that Sony has somehow portrayed itself as a quality company.
Sony should stand behind it's defective product. Even the people at the Sony store admit the failure rate is 40%!!!! on PS2.
But you have to give the people at Electronics Boutique credit for smarts. They took a defective product and turned it into a revenue stream by offering an extended warranty plan - so when it breaks you can get a refurbished one.
Delphi Rocks! But Borland's managment just doesn't seem to get it. Go over to the Borland news server and there is a sense of misery and frustration over the way Borland handles this product and it's sibling Kylix.
This will cause the open source community to replace the tired old patented ideas with new innovative algorithms and user interfaces that advance computing for the common good of mankind. And as a benefit, Microsoft won't be allowed to use these ideas in their products! The future is bright indeed.
The Sinclair ZX81 ran at something like 3.25Mhz. Due to a desire to create the lowest cost computer possible for students, the Z80 generated the video signal in software!

With Windows legendary vulnerability, instability and mysterious performance anomalies, I wouldn't want to run Linux on top of that house of sand for anything but a trivial application.
Perhaps in the long run, Microsoft is doing Linux a favour.

Thanks - you rock ... what is with that Mercury FTP signup crap?
PPC = dead end.
The researchers deserve credit for disclosing their source of funding ... after all they could have laundered the funding source.
It adds credibility to the report.
Knoppix Linux ...
And while you're at it - REAL media too.

So exactly who are they trying to appeal to?

What a great gesture of intergallactic diplomacy.

SHAME on you SONY!
"or tell me about an alternative language I should learn."
Consider contributing to the Freepascal and Lazarus open source projects.
I think Pascal played a huge role in successfully getting the first Macs to work as well as they did.

I'm still bitter.
I would much rather see users create non normalized Access databases than try to store data in Excel spread sheets.

Clever programming counts for a lot!
No, just ridiculously high price.
Maybe Amazon could work a deal to sell you books to read between reboots.
I hope like the Titanic sinking and sucking down life boats with it, Borland doesn't hurt WxWindows in some way. Interbase anyone?

Wow, you actually found a time when they were open?
This would be a good indicator of what Microsoft thinks are the best development tools for the job.
