Maybe what he needs is a newer iPod. His old one was a G1... those were (comparatively) heavy, bad on battery usage, and all that.
Get a nano, or a new video-capable iPod. Why try and jump through hoops mounting something in the Finder, dragging files, etc., and dealing with an interface that will inevitably be clunkier?
My brother-in-law was actually working for Statscan this summer, and he's Canadian. As is his office, here in Toronto, and the other offices he mentioned (Calgary and Montreal).
It is also worth noting that Digg has rapidly gained popularity to the point that Slashdot and Digg are now neck and neck [alexa.com] according to Alexa.
Oooh! This article might make digg crumble under the Slashdot effect.
But I can see that digg already has a story about Slashdot talking about digg censorship. So maybe Slashdot will crumble under the digg effect.
Either way, bandwidth is going to be a bummer this afternoon.
The idea is to harvest the bookmarks as a way to help provide content for the front page.... so that we don't lose more ground to Digg.
(the idea behind tags remains a mystery, however)... so that you are more inclined to look for other people's bookmarks that might interest you, bookmark them yourself.
Basically, this sounds like a mash-up between del.icio.us and Digg.
You mention that the heat that radiates from your heater helps reduce the load on your furnace for heating the air in your house.
That may be true, but it still means your water is cooling down, so wouldn't your water tank have to keep using power to maintain it's constant temperature. Granted, not as much as if it would be were the tank outside your house, but still.
You also imply that tankless water heaters are stupid. I've been considering installing one (solar powered, ideally) to provide hot water to a small top-floor bathroom in my house. I'm in a generally sunny but coldish northern climate (Toronto, Canada), and I figured this would be a very cost-effective way to heat just enough water for a daily shower or two, and maybe some radiant floor heating. The rest of my house would use water from a conventional natural gas powered tank. Thoughts?
On the plus side, we could start patenting all the possible story lines for Star Wars episodes 7 through 9, and save everyone from more bad dialogue and Jar-Jar antics.
Sorry but I love the fact that my portable video player also acts as a PVR.
Why? The iPod doesn't rip your music, so why should it rip your video?
Don't you see? The PVR functionality is being built into the desktops (I'll bet a revised Mac mini with TV in is in the future, if not a dedicated media center box). And, just like you let the desktop to the ripping and sync to the iPod for music, so to will it likely be for video.
Speaking of VirtualPC, I have found that running AutoCAD on my 1.25 GHZ G4 iMac works. It's a wee bit sluggish, so it probably wouldn't cut it for engineering simulations, but I bet it would be fine on a dual G5 with a bunch o' memory.
From a source at a cellphone carrier whose retail locations are licensed to sell the iPod Nano, I get this news:
Supply of the 20G iPod Photo is drying up, and Apple is asking for inventory numbers, daily, broken down by retail location, for this company.
This is similar, I'm told, to what happened with the iPod Mini just before the Nano release.
My source's guess is that the 20G iPod Photo will get replaced with a 40G model, and possibly we'll see a new high-end Nano (6 or 8G?), with some price adjustments across the board.
You can name servers? And here I was memorizing IPs ...
Most of the developers I know are wired ... on Red Bull, that is.

They are.
American firm? What's your evidence?

Hrm ... I just got moderator points today, but I think I'll stay away from using them on this article at all.
Just to be safe.

Isn't this what
I was installing Boot Camp on my MacBook. And it was, like, "beep beep beep beep beep".

And then, like, half my operating systems were gone. And I was, like,
It was a really good operating system, you know?
So I had to install OS X all over again.

But you can buy one for USD 99. Genuine leather, too.
Uh ... Ask.com's sponsored links *are* from Google.
Wouldn't a fund like this need to skim some money off the top (as it were) to cover their own overhead, salaries, admin, etc.?
If so, wouldn't it be better to just donate directly to the charities of your choice?
Actually, you are more north than I am. Toronto (4340'N) is on par with Mt. Rushmore, South Dakota!

In this case, it is.
... eEye is now testing whether the flaw also affects iTunes running on Mac operating systems.
Anyone who RTFA would notice it says:
Operating Systems Affected:
All Microsoft Operatins [sic] Systems
And CNET says:
So, where did the author get the idea this affected iTunes on Mac OS X?
Why not? I use nano on my Nano.
All the kids I know in Africa (granted, I only know Nigerians) are millionaires and just need a little of your help to get their hands on the money.
I'm sure they'd pay you handsomely, and throw in a laptop, if you help.

You don't have to wait for Top Gun! The Musical

I'm hoping it supports the iPod Camera Connector.
You over-estimate some speakers, me-thinks.
