Consider your vindictive ex sabotaging your efforts to keep in touch with your son (misplaced phone charger is the first thing that comes to mind, but also consider worse scenarios such as dropping the phone in a body of water/off a high building or running it over with her VeeDub Beetle). Eventually these "accidents" and "misfortunes" will transform into extra money out of your pocket.
If I were you, I'd take the cost of the phone, plus the monthly charges you'd pay to a telco until Junior can pay his own cellphone bill (10-12 years' worth?), and use that to hire a lawyer to get more of what you want out of this situation.
This is one problem which I strongly feel technology has very limited capabilities to solve.
...except the masses doing the adoption, are adopting SteamOS, not Linux specifically. This does little to raise awareness among the unwashed masses of the existence of "GNU/Linux the open source alternative", it just becomes "a consumer product that distributes/plays games". This will do about as much for GNU/Linux as Mac OS X did for BSD.

You and the couch are going to become BFFs?
The whole point behind autonomous cars is to take the human (error, misjudgment, irrationality, lack of reflexes) factor OUT of driving.
The release of self-driving cars from multiple vendors can only impact (no pun intended) automobile owners in a positive way, ensuring that the most error-free, pleasurable experience. Just like other technologies, the best tech will "win". I fear, however, the inevitable "100,000 units recall due to autonomy malfunction" headlines...
While we're taking humans away from being behind the wheel, there are still humans building and programming the mobile death-traps. Let's hope competition errs on the side of caution from all players involved.
Here in Canada, we've phased out the penny, and are in the process of phasing out printed cheques for government payments. Curious to see how long it will take for physical cash in its entirety to make its way into obsolescence, thus opening the gates for controlled/monitored transactions...
See?
Strongly recommend reading/buying this from Kindle (for less than a dollar). It's a great and important read.
Way geekier, cooler, and prettier.
Spin Glasses is just nerdly.
Google fanbois don't need emulated lemmings...

Is that you?
...software contrary to security (NSA) interests?
This is 2013. Fixed that for ya.
Don't correct me!
Not to mention, I got me a Betty Behave poster during one of their promotions. :-)
He would be ashamed. Nowhere in the article does it reference "GNU/Linux".

I read "barilla chairman" as "gorilla chairman" and immediately thought of Ballmer...

Pretty sure those films can't be viewed until after midnight...
Pot, meet kettle.

Obligatory XKCD reference. (See above.)
Stalin had nothing to do with it. This was purely Putin's doing.
