as soon as you stop whining and write the driver yourself, you lazy idiot. Next time, check the documentation to see whether the card you're buying is supported. It's not that hard.
I'd be more convinced if he had given some (ANY!) examples of popular open-source software floundering under its own success. Until he can do that, his whole rant is mere speculation.

I am a Gnome fan. I admit KDE currently rules as superior desktop environment for Linux. Where do you think we'll be in 2 years? I'm sorry, but Gnome's GTK+, Corba, and scripting support will simply blow KDE out of the water. Sorry.
Flame me if I'm wrong, but I thought the GPL states that the source MUST be included with any binaries you distribute. They say they are only supplying "important" sources, all others you must either pay extra for or download them off of FTP. As far as I'm concerned, this is a violation of the GPL. Losers...

All legitimate points. I don't think it's enought to force me to migrate to Be quite yet, though. Not that it should stop anyone else...:) Be OS really needs a killer app to attract people (like myself) entrenched in other platforms.
Please elaborate! I don't have much experience with BeOS, so I can't make any assumptions re: your comment. I'm not a huge fan of X, so I'm interested to hear how BeOS could be considered an improvement. Maybe you're just refering to the BeOS GUI, in which case X is not the problem, but instead whatever GUI running on top of it!
They may be Fugly, but they are the best case I've ever seen for adding/removing/repairing hardware components. The whole side of the thing opens up like a drawbridge, even when its running! I'm not sure how "cool" they look, but they're very functional.

regarding the article, I find the idea of a class-action suit against MS (mentioned at the end of the article) very interesting. That would definitely be one way to punish MS, if the Judge doesn't want to break them up into baby Bills.
