    I think this would be great. I might not personally buy it (I'm an old school WP user), but we'd probably buy copies for the 50+ end users at work.
    I'll take more choice any day, even if they aren't necessarily the best choices.

    So being popular means it "sucks". By that logic, you yourself are either "popular and suck", or are "unpopular and don't suck". Wonder which it is.

    I think thats great that you use and enjoy slackware. I did at one time too. Please don't dog on us who use red hat now, though. To each their own, I say.

    I'm not an apologist for Linux/GNOME's short comings, but the guys comments were not constructive at all. He had no point, just dogging on Linux. I've been sick all week, and want to celebrate Gnome 1.0 (runs great!) not listen to somebody's negative rants.
    I agree with most everything else you say.

    I hope you're not implying he'll be able to set up a scanner and printer w/o problem under MS Windows, are you? If you are, then you are incredibly naive. I deal with "joe sixpacks" all day long at work (I work at a company that sells mulch and soils). There's no way most of them could accomplish this under Windows. Macs, probably.

  21. GNOME is really coming around. on GNOME 1.0.0 Pre-release · · Score: 1

    The last few releases of GNOME seem to have made huge leaps in stability. The file manager DnD especially has become much more reliable. The panel, and other apps are becoming much more responsive, too. This trend will probably only continue through the next few releases, too. I am really looking forward to seeing it stabilize further, and go 1.0.
