I personally love how the poster of the article invents a hypothetical security problem with a hypothetical and non existent hardware solution, at which point he/she discusses the details of a potential hypothetical hack.
Since when does someone who codes in C++ ever bitch when you have to do something the hard way? Isn't it implied?
In Visual Studio.NET 2005 (dunno about the other versions, but I would assume that any version that uses the CLR which is all of them), if you use the CLR managed code option when you create a C++ windows app, you certainly can drag and drop to create whatever you want on the screen just like any of the other.NET languages.
I think a lot of the problem here is you've got a bunch of people that like the Apple method better because this is what they have used, and actually haven't really used the MS stuff that much if at all.
I'm not about to comment on Cocoa because I've never used it. I like that it's free though, and wouldn't be adverse to trying it.
However, there's a lot of bullshit out there from people who haven't even used something on a daily basis talking like they created the damned thing.
I also noticed a lot of people bitching that you don't have to know anything to code in C# or.NET and this is also bullshit from a person that hasn't done it. Or maybe they've created a hello world without reading any docs and now think they are master coders. You can actually create a Windows GUI app in C# without ever dragging and dropping a single thing onto a form, you can do it entirely programatically. And for the record, there's a lot more to.NET than meets the eye.
Welcome to Slashdot, where people talk out their ass without any actual knowledge or experience.
This site should be called Slashdot Debate because very few people here actually know anything except how to sell their own point of view to the gullible.
I agree about the show. For those of you that want to see a video about Xbox 360 that is much better, you can download it for free from www.ourcolony.net right off the front page.
I'd say it was at least 100% better than the shit they showed on MTV.
Windows XP Starter Edition is meant for DEVELOPING 3rd world COUNTRIES - people that have NEVER USED A MOUSE BEFORE.
It only makes sense that it would have limited functionality because it is designed to teach those with no exposure whatsoever to computers how to use one.
If you think of it in this context, it makes great sense.
Here's an idea. Open a website that allows people to donate books to this person, much like a paypal donation site. On top of you shipping books to your friend, other people can also ship off a couple old books that they don't want anymore.
It would save on shipping costs for you (I think what you're trying to do is ship a huge amount of printed material, right?), and wouldn't cost many other people very much either.
How about if it recognized that you were running say, SETI@Home, and it optimized itself to execute that algorithm faster?
I think that's the real advantage of these kinds of things. Now you won't have just an all-purpose processor, but an all purpose processor that can specalize in the task that you are currently working on.
Wouldn't this make it seem like you have a PC designed just for what you are doing, with everything you do?

While we're at it, why don't we take a poll on who uses solid deoderant vs deoderant spray vs gel deoderant.
Next topic: which linux distro do you use?

You mean like Itunes?
He put tin foil around the card itself and encouraged others to do so.
AMD is the way to go.
Let's just throw everybody in jail for everything. That will solve all of the world's economic and social problems, right?
Why does everyone rejoice when like 2 servers are converted from Windows to an open source solution?
That's precisely why nobody takes you zealots seriously.

How is this insightful?
Mod parent -5, fucking retarded

From what I've read previouslu, Halo 2 outsold the entire run of Halo 1 in the first day of sales.
The shuttles already have I believe four-way redundant systems. Also mainframes have always had this as far as I know.
This doesn't stop any of these systems from blowing up on the landing pad.
There's no way to transfer the recorded content to the computer or vice versa....YET!!!
won't be too long now..
1. Get grant money from government
2. Install multiple eggdrop bots with logging enabled on government servers
3. ????
4. Proft!
I would say that The Screensavers used to advocate open source as well as Call for Help every now and then.
Of course they didn't preach it like a zealot, but I think they did promote it nicely.
generally, if something's not listed on www.bruce-campbell.com, it's a hoax.
However, they may just not have posted anything yet because it may not be set in stone...
I tend not to believe any evil dead rumors or any bruce campbell related stuff until I see it on his official page.
I'm suprised nobody's asked where the documents, laptops, conference phone or network connection is?
Those are the things you use in conferences, not a lame bike.
anyone stupid enough to try to connect to xbox live a month early with the pirated copy of the game.

Oh really? Have you ever seen a particularly clueless 'linux' user boot up the redhat boot cd and click 'Server Install'?
Zero ports open you say?
A stupid user on linux is just as deadly as a stupid user on windows
COBOL IS STILL USED BY MANY..
This has to be the most over-embellished headline that I have ever seen.
Don't you think that you are over reacting?
