This is more of a "training your eyes" by changing the pupils. I wouldn't call it a major breakthrough or anything of that nature, as I imagine anyone could do it after years of practice like these tribesman have had.

To me this sounds like learning to play a musical instrument or learning a new skill.

I think PS2 and XBox have a lot more going for them. However, I would be glad to see a new offering from Nintendo, that maybe Acclaim would support. Also, what about Gameboy Advance? This article was useless. I read the entire thing, as I am waiting with anticipation for WinFS. However, when you get down to the actual specifics, this article doesn't have anything that you haven't heard before.

To sum it up : WinFS will be based on a relational database of some sort. That is ALL this article says about WinFS.

It goes on to tell you about FAT16, FAT32, and NTFS 4.0 and 5.0 (which they don't even bother to number).

Good info on the previous FSes, but comes up short on the topic that the article was meant to encompass, namely the WinFS filesystem. If you're looking for hard-core information on how it works, you're out of luck.

One of the largest problems I know for a fact that IBM has is the time zone conversion. My company works with IBM and some of the work on our application is done right in India. It's really difficult to get answers to questions regarding interfaces when there's such a huge time difference.

Still, we are based in another country (Canada), but we're only an hour ahead of eastern standard, so it is nowhere near as bad.

  23. V1.5 naming scheme on Smaller XBox 1.5 Rumored In Japan · · Score: 2, Informative

It might be prudent to note here that there are already three versions of the Xbox.

V1.0, V1.1, and V1.2. These all have minor hardware changes in them, but look the same externally. I suspect most of the changes were to stop the mod-chips from working.

So basically the reason it is called 1.5 is that it is just a new version (and they probably will change it a small amount to render current mod chips useless)

All consoles have various revisions which may or may not change how it looks on the outside. So it's not really a big deal, it's expected.

We have the same thing here in Canada. We rarely get telemarketing calls.. probably once or twice a month. I have heard that in some parts of the USA, a person can potentially get up to 9 calls per day from telemarketers.

That's just crazy.. But of course, they wouldn't be doing it if they didn't make money off of it, so the best solution is to have no-one ever buy anything over the phone from a telemarketer. This would be the same reason that spam is still going strong. Enough people actually buy the crap to support their continued spamming.
