Anyone else notice this? If humans were powered by humans, and their heat powered the machines, wouldn't you run out of calories in a jiffy? Humans don't run on solar or nuclear power. Well, I suppose the machines could be doing some sort of protein synthesis, but if they had the energy to do that why not skip the whole "power plant" thing?
At first the story was supposed to be that the humans were used as a massive beowulf cluster of brains to increase the machine's intelligence. But it was 'dumbed-down' to the battery thing so that people wouldn't go 'wtf?'.
IANAL, but I think all you need is a lawyer to prepare a good non-disclosure agreement for you. If they release the source, you can sue them for damages.
If I recall correctly, current military satellites have a resolution of about 10 cm (~4 inches). Compare that to commercial satellite that have resolutions varying between 1 and 10 meters.. (Although one satellite can acheive a 66cm resolution)
Think about all the time that went into designing a machine that can walk on four mechanical paws. Now throw all that away and make it use wheels. Uhm maybe I'm missing something here..
Yeah but you're going to have a hard time controlling the magnetic field if you use just natural magnets.. Whenever the craft accelerates, the containment field needs to be ajusted to compensate for the antimatter's inetia.
You don't need the CD to run UT2K3. Just run the udebugger.exe executable instead of the ut2003.exe. (From what I hear there might be a slight hit in performance.. I didn't notice anything tho)
Here's a great novel related to intellectual property and depicting a grim future where associations like the RIAA basically control everything: Autonomy

Window Window System? Kind of redundant.
"Tchirkov says Windows is not a registered trademark in Russia."
Heh.. I hope he doesn't plan to ever come to the US :)
Uhm.. Five minutes is very roughly what it took me to read the thing.. Maybe you should go back to first grade school and actually learn how to read?
Well not being a lawyer, I can't really answer that :)

That means slashdot will stop linking to registration-requiring NYT articles :D
What I want to know is who is general Failure and why he's reading my disk.
Heh. You're trapped in a room filled with fire & smoke, the oxygen is being sucked out of the room and you want to stay calm? Sure, no problem :)
I think this speaks for itself...
Well surely it will sell better than the C4, which kept blowing up it's occupants.
Well not everyone has a grill on the front of their PC, and most retail PCs do not.
:/
However what concerns me is that that heatsink looks like a bitch to clean

'Who controls the past,' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.'

Oh come on, this is so obviously just a way for some big corporation to clone celebrities and sell them back to rich geeks :)

Shame it's not completed yet.
It's a bird! It's a plane! It's sarcasm flying right over your head!
IIRC, there were more than 4000 people in #cnn on september 11th.
Hmm I'm usually either sleeping or playing games/reading on my Palm :)
I'm paying from my own pocket too. Maybe I'm just stupid..
And you don't listen when the guy you're paying 100s of dollars to teach speaks? Odd.
Bebop is also a jazz style, music that is quite used througt the show.
