Its _just_ documentation, it's not like it tells you FSF > Open Source every time you compile something. I think you're taking this a little out of proportion, but hey, if you don't like it, you dont _have_ to use it, I suppose.
Is there a particular reason theyre spending money (a great deal, I assume) on paying scientist to figure out how to add eggs and mac'n'cheese to rations, other than "A lot of people eat it". Seems like a waste of money to me.

I see all these people flaming sun for "bashing" linux, i put it in quotes because I don't see it in the article anywhere _bashing_ linux, however, I doubt 90% of these people have _ever_ used a mainframe and are just sticking up for linux because they use it, some would call them zealots. In my opinion, I feel sun has made some very interesting and well-founded points that Linux wasn't created for the mainframe, it was created for x86 and not to run in virtual machine, etc. On the other hand, it's _your_ mainframe, and you can put whatever you feel like on it.
First of all, that is a good point. However, unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world and them not building the firewall, is not going to stop it from being built. Also, censorship being "evil" is entirely opinionated. You can't say just because you don't believe in censorship, that it shouldn't happen. People say there shouldn't be censorship, yet they don't wont kiddie porn, which is censorship, as well.
It's been almost 5 minutes since the post and there havent been any BSD-is-Dying posts, maybe BSD is really dying now that the trolls have lost interest.;)
It's silly to blame Cisco for supplying the firewall to China, if thats what you're getting at. Cisco is out to make money, if they didnt build the firewall someone else would've. Plus, there's not much chance that the US is going to do this seeing how it goes against almost all of the grounds that the country was founded upon, but you never know with politicians these days.
Does Katz not read the whole "News for Nerds. Stuff that matters." motto? Since when does his latest idiotic postings of offtopic genres appeal to nerds or have anything to do with slashdot?
If this computer works well, the new imac is going to have some problems taking over the college crowd, which im assuming they were going for, especially compared to a computer you can lug with you easily.
Sure, it's possible, but there is a long way to go, there was a report on PBS the other day about how difficult it is to implement common sense into a robot and how it's hard for a robot to understand speech and distinguish objects. I don't see anything like HAL any time soon.
Did someone's mother take their bottle from them? It's great to see such intellectual people like you come to slashdot and post their great comments. People like you should take your LINUX-ROCKS-EVERYTHING-THERE-IS-NO-QUESTION-ABOUT- IT attitudes and stick with dalnet #hax0rs.
Maybe Borland will open the source and put it under the BSD license, and we'll finally have a compiler with a FREE license. I doubt it, but it'd be nice.
What happens if you add water cooling to your cray, and you start a level 1 hurricane over your processor?
Well, there's support for applications that aren't yet supported on osx, and perhaps they want an OS thats entirely open source.
Yeah, you're right, my apologies, was a typo.
6 months later...
Man catches on fire while falling asleep in new "self-warming" jacket.

What would the 12 year old girls do without all of NSync on the planet? Can you say total chaos?

Looks like spreadsheets are software to me.

BTW, there is no need for a high-performance box: something like 300-500 Mhz with a moderate amount of RAM would be enough.
:(
sigh, 500Mhz to me is high performance, i need a new computer.
If it was really a smart phone, why would it be running windows on it? ;-)
So, if BSD is *3* times as popular as linux on the desktop that _must_ mean Linux is dying even more rapidly. ;)
so if i never sleep am i immortal? :)

Just think of all the processors that are overheating because of blasted things like this. It makes baby jesus cry.

If it's dying why do so many trolls waste so much bandwidth on trying to convince people that a "dead" os is "dead"?

Microsoft has no plans of beefing up security; they just wanted to give slashdot-users some more stories to submit and things to flame about.
