    as I understand it, the kernel doesn't care what the BIOS says, it goes on its own thing. eg: replace a hard drive with a cdrom on a x86 system, and mount it. The cdrom will mount, despite the BIOS telling you that there is a hard drive there.

    it was my mis understanding that if you had a file 000, and you wanted to delete it, you would need to chmod it to a deleteable state.

    odd.
    kinda makes sense in the long run since the permissions aren't written to the file.

    I live near the welland canal (Niagara Falls, Ontario. Canada, st lawerence sea way)

    I could see this work in a practical situtation for ships passing through docks, to keep them steady, drag them in or some jazz.

    Maybe thats what they're doing this year for maintenance!

    "Mac Basics"
    is what it was called.
    History of the mac, common functions, blah blah. TCP/IP networking, twas interesting.
    The class was meant to teach the laymen how to troubleshoot the mac and use it.

    We're being Trained on Macs for Mac support for printers (OS8/9/X)
    In little after the first 3 days I was confident enough to take on any problem, and even offer advice to others in my class/the teachers. I was surprised how I caught on so fast, OSX was a breeze since it is Unix based.
