Bluetooth would make much more sense. Mobile networks are already everywhere and BT power consumption is much smaller that WLAN. But that wouldn't make/. headlines, would it?

Most people never actually had a real need to upgrade from paper and pencil.
And indeed most people never have upgraded from paper and pencil to PDAs.
Funny, I just switched from Entourage to Mail.app because of the spam features! I think MS should take a serious look at Mail.app if it really intends to fight spam.
What bothers me is that they assume that "IT" is one technology. In fact it is several, and I'd assume that most of them have not been discovered. It's not that long ago when Internet wasn't in the radar of The Economist reporters...
Let's say I take a quick snap of myself and my new girlfriend, and send it off to my pal across town so he can see how much fun we're having. Do I want that image to reach my parents? Do I want my ex girlfriend to see it? How about my co-workers and enemies? I'd rather not, thanks.
What if your pal across the town would be with your ex when he receives the pic?
Reason for dropping the draft is really that the Finnish parliament decided that it doesn't have enough time to finalise the legislation before the elections in march... Not exactly a "huge legal win for EFFI" as it is hyped.
Unfortunately the EuroDMCA directive is in effect despite that not all member states have implemented the local legislation.
I had OS X 10.0 installed when I received 10.1. However, just as I was about to install 10.1 9.1 crashed it's partition beyond repair, so I had to format reinstall the whole thing again.
After that I tried to install 10.1, but apparently this CheckForOSX couldn't find 10.0 anymore... And refused to install. I wasn't able to boot to 9.1 anymore ("press buttom to boot old OS" trick wouldn't work).
I'm fairly new with Macs so I didn't know the trick to eject the CD on boot.
So my Mac kept on booting OS X 10.1 CD that refused to install...
Well, at least I learned some Mac tricks during from that experience:)
Renting is easily a win-win situation, let's take apartment renting as an example. The renter wins by getting fairly constant although small profit for their investment. For insurance companies and the like this is preferable.
The rentee wins since he can invest his capital into something more productive than apartments (such as stock markets).
That's why companies don't generally own their offices - they're just more productive in concetrating to what they're good at. Same applies for leasing cars.
OTOH, MS wants to get out of the "owning" of the software (leasing, really) because they understand that in the near future they cannot make money with their closed source business model. They're simply trying to adjust their business model into one that is relevant in the open source environment.
One of the researchers commented their findings on TV when this was first reported earlier this week: "we've injected substansial amounts of taurine to test animals and we've been dissappointed because of the lack of effect".
In her opionion coffein is much more effective ingredient in Red Bull (no matter what the producer tries to tell you).

Ultimate PDA should be light to carry and of reasonable size (no larger/heavier than eg Nokia 62?? -series, IMHO).
I can't find that information in SonyEricsson site and neither this nor The Registers review has any mention of the dimensions of this thing...
I find that a bit confusing. Usually "forgetting" to mention these little details imply vaporware.
Otherwise this thing looks very desiarable indeed.
Given the rumoured low-heatness of the coming G5 processors I wonder if Apple's going to revive the Cubes or if Sonet could make an upgrade card?

Now if Microsoft cloned Aqua then why not just name the themes after XP to get Apple lawyers off your back?
