you want to get a feel for this, try reading XinHua in parallel with your other news sources. At first you will note differences here and there but over time you will come to see two different, parallel world histories going on; the XinHua one and the 'real' one.

If i remember correctly, the Communists took China in the 1940's/1950's pushing the capitalist Kuomintang down into Taiwan (which at that point was part of China).

So the Kuomintang had their armies on Taiwan and so the Chinese Communists was unable to take it, in any case they had the main bit of the country to fix up so they let it go.

I think the interesting time has only just begun.

    Its interesting because:
    1. China is becoming more capitalist - the Kuomintang were more capitalist than Communist. If China becomes further democratized(?) and more capitalist (ha!) what would stop the re-unification from a political-belief POV.

    2. As China becomes richer the Taiwanese might see more advantage to being a part of it.

    3. As the old Communist and Kuomintang leaders die from old age, there will probably be less personality issues when dealing with a re-unification.

    4. Might it be like the re-unification of Germany one day?

I attended a Sun Java talk presentation recently. And this article especially concerning the FUD stuff about Linux echoed the talk.

There was one slide called: "Linux.. What if?.."

At which point the presenter went on to say "Red Hat is not Linux, Red Hat is PROPRIETARY, what if Linux goes kaput.. what if you get no support.. what if something goes wrong.. what happens in 10 years?..."

It was strange because he then went onto explain how Sun was embracing OSS and Linux - look we use Suse and Samba is on our product list...

I think Sun thinks it can compete with Microsoft and has a plan for that, but has no real gameplan on how to defeat Linux..

if people/NRA did have a case against the film - i.e. it was incorrect, then they would have shut it down:

Three teams of fact-checkers and two groups of lawyers went through it with a fine tooth comb to make sure that every statement of fact is indeed an indisputable fact. Trust me, no film company would ever release a film like this without putting it through the most vigorous vetting process possible. The sheer power and threat of the NRA is reason enough to strike fear in any movie studio or theater chain. The NRA will go after you without mercy if they think there's half a chance of destroying you. That's why we don't have better gun laws in this country - every member of Congress is scared to death of them.

Well, guess what. Total number of lawsuits to date against me or my film by the NRA? NONE. That's right, zero. And don't forget for a second that if they could have shut this film down on a technicality they would have."
