but really, serial ports? parallel ports? i'm not too sure that the scsi is going to win them any points either, but what the hell. they might have well integrated a video controler, an audio controler, and a 9600 baud modem to boot!
Well, I think they target embedded applications and not laptops here. Most embedded applications don't need sound or video capabilities and most engineers love to have serial and parallel I/O, because of their simplicity.
A.porn domain would be good, if most of the porn was collected under a single TLD it would be easy to block it at schools and so
blocking via domainnames? I think you'd better block via IP, most of those kids are smart enough to figure this out... Anyway the most illegal porn won't be located under http//www.lolita.porn. but under http://fctnts14d017.nbnet.nb.ca/~xydds/ this is why filtering wont work...
as you can see these comes from dialin systems, but fakes to come from @hotmail.com and @msn.com I don't know why most spamers choose hotmail, msn or yahoo to be their origin domain, maybe because no american admin would be keen to block this domains (and as a result blocking 50% of all potential customers). It's not my ignorance which made be block this domains, it just solves the SPAM problem without affecting normal operation. Just think about how much mail you would miss if you would block @web.de, @t-online.de or @gmx.de? Not much I suppose...
From someone stupid enough to think that *@hotmail.com spam is actualy sent from hotmail servers, it's not suprising.
I know that these domains aren't actually sending the spam, but the most spamers set their from adresses to msn, hotmail or any freemailer. And your insulting comment clearly shows that I hardly miss anything.
Hardly any e-mail PERIOD. You do realize how many people are on Earthlink, don't you?
Not at all, most of my friends and all of my customers have their own domainnames. Anyway, I must admin that it would be hard to get in touch with me for any earthlink customers...

AMD's 64-bit Plot

As a side-note, any kernel devs out there have anything to say about this new processor? How much benefit do we get out of a 64-bit kernel? How hard is the kernel to port to native 64-bit, and dealing with running old 32-bit apps? I haven't done ANY kernel development myself, but am interested to know what the issues are.
64Bit kernels are available since 1.2 times..

I don't have problems with people from other countries coming here, as long as they don't see smaller countries around them merely as holiday-provinces of their almighty country.
Have you ever been on a german highway during the summer?;-)
thats clearly a "must have" feature, take your background pictures with you whereever you go, from pc to mac, from mac to cellular, from cellular to the fridge door...
2) the lame part is that you have to pay to not have to pay for your logical processors. linux doesn't have these lisensing issues.
yep - it might be lame to force people to buy new licenses, but hey we're free to run other operating systems and I'm sure any real microsoft zealot upgrades to.NET server years before he get's his first desktop Xeon;-)
my 2 word rebute...
doom 3
when Doom3 finally goes Gold, this System will be outperformed by $999 boxes from Walmart...

Well maybe the proposed protocol just wasn't very good?
I just tried their beta and must say: it might not be perfect, but its alot better than standard gnutella.
... charging a tax of 2 cent for every spam mail sent
Actually it has "pretty good" OO.
..
If I' had modpoints right now, I'd mod this up as "funny"
Any C++ or Java Developer will loose his hair (I he has any left) when reading things like this or this
(the later has nothing to do with oop)

Microsoft will make bids to buy both Rational and Borland
;-)
If MS buys Borland they would become a Java Addict and Linux Software Producer (Kylix, JBuilder). I doubt this would happen so soon
Then you know that disallowing their server wont stop any Spam
I'm not disallowing their server, I'm disallowing any mail originating from their domain. this catches SPAM with faked from addresses like this:

does anything important really ever happen at COMDEX?
wasn't the Amiga 1000 introduced at COMDEX 1985?
I don't have problems with people from other countries coming here, as long as they don't see smaller countries around them merely as holiday-provinces of their almighty country.

Have you ever been on a german highway during the summer?
As I am freelance developer I have to target my customers systems. For most cases this means: *nix for webapps and windows or mac for desktop apps.
;-)
Personally I like osx for the look and feel, windows for the games and *nix because I like systems I understand.
This promotional DVD from Atlantic Records will work for only 8 hours.

seems like plenty of time to rip the content
How is this a troll? Clueless, maybe.

EJB's are great, don't get me wrong. They are great for handling database abstractions with zero tolerance for errors. But they are not fast
certainly faster than php, keep in mind EJB's are compiled bytecode excuted on Hotspot optimizing virtual machines.
and horrible overkill for a site like Yahoo
maybe, but the main reason might be that developing with php is just cheaper...
yahoo will need more E10000's soon ;-)
In other news, 99.92% of all customers don't want their products broken, according to a recent survey.
and around 99.99% of all citizens don't want to pay taxes...
"We're a big site and can do anything we want!"
As long no one biggers than we are cares about...
