I only get widescreen if I can. The only times that I don't mind getting fullscreen is if the DVD is for a TV show or it's a movie for my daughter (since she doesn't care about the whole wide versus full screen thing).
If I ever considered buying a Smell (sorry Dell) anything, it would be nice that they offer Linux or no OS at all. But since I am not planning on doing that (probably going to buy a Macbook), I don't really care what they do.
To quote something that you said in a post to another person:
"OSS would be left way behind in the dust when MS simply makes Windows better and we're too proud to admit that they've done some things right."
Competition is GOOD...a monoculture is BAD. IE was a prime example of this, once MS "won" the browser war, they simple stopped doing anything for IE. The same thing will happen if OSS is "left way behind" as you put it to Windows. MS will know that people have no choice and so will not do anything.
But hey, if that is the world you want to live in, you are welcome to it.
I used to watch his shows all the time and loved them (even got a shirt with him on it). Even though he did some crazy shit (the spitting cobra in Africa springs to mind), he always cared about the animals and wanted to show people that we could live in peace with them.
I haven't upgraded to an HDTV (nothing worth watching in it) and I will probably wait until the DVD player I has dies completely before I upgrade to any Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player...and if the players are not backward compatible, then forget it.
Yep, Jedi Knight was one of the best in using cinematics...
Knights of the old republic 2 though...I am playing through it again so that I can be a different type of Jedi, but I can't skip through the cutscenes that I have already seen...just another bug from Obsidian rushing it out the door.
I have about 10 years of experience in building PCs, servers, setting them up and admining them, but I can't get a job since I don't have those little letters after my name (MCSE). On top of that, why should I go back to school to learn programming or something similiar when any job I get can be outsourced?
To hell with that, time to learn something that can't be outsourced.
Thank you for clearing that up. I have always believed that Windows is a good desktop OS, but when it comes to servers and firewalls and such...why not go with something else (Open Source, Unix)?
If school districts looked at switching to OSS (like Linux, OpenOffice, etc), they could save money...of course that will never happen since M$ will simply "donate" copies of Windows and Office.
Well, if that happens, then I guess I am moving out of the US..not a big loss, but my mom will be pissed that she can't see her granddaughter all the time.
I guess I'll just have to use my TV for DVD's and video tapes..since I can't really afford to buy a new digital TV or a converter box. Of course, it's not like I am missing anything anyhow.
This summer, there are only two movies I want to see in the theater...Batman Beings and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. All of the rest (including that Star Wars one) just don't interest me enough to want to fork out the money to see them. I'll just wait for the DVD to come out and then rent it, and if I like it, buy them.

Makes me glad I stuck with Windows 2000. It does everything I need and I don't see any reason to upgrade

I'm not buying either since I don't have an HDTV and what I have DVD wise is perfectly fine for me.
Though I may buy one of the combo VCR/DVD recorders..
to avoid any kind of Dell...
Makes me glad I don't ever want one..
Nice fantasy, but it won't happen...game companies are too chicken shit to do anything to piss off MS.
One more thing, show me why I need to have Virus or VD or Vista or whatever it is called..

so you would rather than MS own everything?
That would make me give up computers then...
I am voting against Hatch, since he only cares about the "rights" of companies and not not the rights of the people
And why did it take 6 years to get a new version of IE? Because MS had "won" the browser war so they didn't have to upgrade anything..
The joys of Microsoft and the campaign to control all of computing.

Rest in peace mate....crikey...
And what company was most responsible for this dark age? Couldn't have been Microsft after they crushed Netscape?
Guess I'll just be stuck my old DVD's and a TV to watch them on...nothing really that good on TV anyhow.

Hmm, just like a drug dealer..
"here, the first one is free.."

My God, Congress wants to pay me to watch digital TV?!?!?! Why don't they find something better to do with the money!!!!

Just sad really.

Another reason to not upgrade to any new OS (except a Linux distro of some sort).
