What a crock of shite. I never have any problems with my GeForce 2 Go in my Inspiron or any of my nVidia based cards in Linux, Mac or Windows. ATI is a whole different matter.

Save yourself the trouble and skip ATI altogether.

Heres a hit as well, never spend more than $125-150 on a graphics card. By the time the games need the $300-400 card you just bought you could have bought it for $125-150. A graphics card is the best thing to upgrade in a system to get better gaming performance but wasting your money on a 9700pro or a geforce FX is plain stupid. I didn't need to go from a GeForce 2 to a GeForce 4 until I got neverwinter nights.

In historical studies the rise of government centered around quasi-religious symbols that were feared and worshiped (primarily phallic in nature since people figured out that is where we come from). So the first governments were all religious in nature. This is of course assuming you don't subscribe to the "spontaneous generation" theory put forth by the Christian religion.

In the end you can test the theory or it's just a guess. Everyone is guessing there is something on the other side because to admit there may not be anything would mean we could all be sociopathic and live our lives by our own rules instead of those instilled through fear and societies mores.

If you take any child, raise them away from a society that blames bad things on a malcontent evil force (sound's like StarWars bullshit to me) and everything good on a miracle, you would have no god and no reason to need one. Simply imparting your morals/convictions on your children by explaining "it's the right thing to do" instead of "because you'll go to hell" makes the same point but one is positive and one is negative. Organized religion is overwhelmingly negative. As an American of Italian decent I was raised in the catholic church and it always amazed me at the hypocrisy of those in church and the overall lack of common sense in the teachings.

In the end I'm not athiest I just don't profess to the common held belief that we can answer all questions related to life through one word: "god". Simple people may find this soothing, I just find it pathetic.

There are several types of insurance:

    Dismemberment/Accident (usually with disability)

As to life insurance if you dont have a wife and children and never plan on having any then skip it. If you ever would like to have a family then get it. There are more types of insurance than just term (expires without any cash value). You could get whole life insurance which if you start young can be a good investment tool. For example, you start at 23 paying into a whole life policy for 250,000. You pay it off at 45~50 years old. The value if you cash it out would be in the 25 to 50K range. However as you get older you can sell it and get an annuity (monthly payments) based on the whole value securing a loan you never pay off (your death pays it off).

If you're only looking 1-3 years into the future financial planning (and security for that matter) are not for you. So move along nothing to see here. I guess when you're 55 and thinking "I'd sure like to retire." you'll be kicking yourself for the opportunities you pissed away because you're too smart now. A CFA is like a CPA, you've really got to know your shit.

Anyone that is investing solely in the Stock Market gets what they deserve. There are simple rules to becoming financially secure.

1: Insurance is the most important purchase you make. (If you get lucky enough to make a few million and then a tragedy strikes all your work is for nothing.)

2: Chose a good career. You can be a success in anything but some fields are easier than others.

3: Save a % of your income always. Living below your means allows you to keep your head above water when the chips are down.

4: Invest in a home (mortgage) before the market. It gives people without their own business one of the few tax write offs, and you're accruing equity instead of throwing money away on rent. (My house was purchased via FHA loan with $2000 down and I got lucky and bought from a buyer that was willing to accept paying closing costs to sell the house at their asking price, which saved $4000+)

5: Don't trust others to invest your money, do your own research and diversify (not stock diversification but REAL diversification, stocks, bonds, T-Bills, CD's, Real-Estate, Tangable Assets (Gold), ...) to a percentage that gives you the return you desire at a risk level you're willing to take.

If people took 1/2 the care in researching their investments as they do in buying a car, house, dvd player, ..., there would be a lot less problems in dealing with money. Remember you're smart enough to earn it, you are smart enough to invest it.

6: Don't follow what the street says, if you did you were buying RHAT at 230 and Global Crossing at 180. When things seem crazy they probably are.

7: Continue to learn through out your career. You never know where you might end up. You don't want to be the 50 year old that everyone at work is suggesting the book "Who moved my cheese" for light reading.

8: Don't try to hit a home run with your investments. Sometimes several base hits gets you more runs. (Take the sure thing, instead of the high risk/high reward).

    Juste mon deux francs.
