I don't understand why you Americans are so agreeable when it comes to having your civil liberties squashed. Why don't you all speak up and remind your representative that you used to live in a free country and would like to once again. Enough of the government spin masters controlling everything.
Why don't you come over here and scream with us? You no longer have to worry about being invaded and you sure don't have to worry about being deported.
Microsoft wishes to turn cheap commodities into their brand names. Their business model is to take away choices and build up a marketing campaign around that to herd us like sheep. You don't become worth $100 billion by accident. Leveraging a monopoly is how to charge whatever you want for a single disc in a large box.
If I understand this, Hans is a family man with two kids, takes the seat out of his car so he can have more room and pick up the kids faster with a lighter car?
How the fuck does email get "lost"? How could that happen? Even a server crash should not cause that.
You don't understand. Microsoft's email servers are more personal than BSD or Linux. Each email is hand scanned and routed. Each packet is individually inspected and if something is wrong, its routed to the appropriate supervisor. There's lots of checks and procedures. This is why Microsoft's mail servers have a more friendly user interface. You get what you pay for.
Is using a non-lethal device for crowd control a bad idea?
War evolves.
Its a bad idea when the crowd gets smart and this backfires. These are microwaves. They are easily focusable. To defend one's self from 90GHz is easy as a reflective metalized layer in your clothing and a few spare sheets of aluminum foil. To attack the attackers only requires a quick unstretching of a metal sheet pulled back in the shape of a parabolic lens. 400 watts is a lot of power. Only 1 watt is required to get burned. Reflecting 400 watts back in a focused point can set something on fire. And reflecting this power back can be done covertly under casual clothing and holding up innocent looking posters lined with foil inside.
Its all about fund raising. Republicans have found that visiting churches on their busy campaigning schedules, they can find at least a dozen donors each step of the way. People who have money are very opinionated and start giving away money to anyone that will listen to them. This is the heart of Republican fund raising. Its nothing personal, its business.
But Microsoft has preached about the freedom to innovate. So they make huge investments in patent engineers and buying other property rights. They want the freedom to take our innovation.
Unfortunatly, most people do not see that. They see the word "free" and their mind stops right there not reading anything else. I believe most people have a short attention span and cannot understand the significance of anything after they hit the four letter word "free." They'll sign anything including a check to Nigeria after "free" is danced in front of them.
When you take the laser assembly out, you'll notice two of them mounted to little heatsinks. One of the two puts out light well into the visible red spectrum and the other is useless.
You can use the usual optical feedback supply to run at peak output, but since this dvd laser application used no feedback, neither did I. I hooked it directly up to the 5 volts from a USB cable through a 10 ohm resistor. You might want to steal a lens off another laser or a camera. If you don't use a lens, the beam spread will light up half the room.
This would be a good time to consider buying some eyewear that will filter out the red, because an accidental burst can get focused onto your retina. That would be bad.
Using blu-ray hardware just to get the laser out of it? Won't the manufacturers sell them lasers instead? This seems utterly backwards.
I took apart a double layer DVD player for the laser. Output is something over 200mW. The beam puts out some heat and can be used as a tool. You won't find this laser pointer in a store for obvious reasons. Its a $50 cutting torch.
The narrow wavelength from this laser may be more interesting as things can fluoresce.

does a company like Halliburton get a whole square? Are they planning to invade others?

I'm a Mac user. Copy-protected and root-kit-infested CDs have not yet been a problem for me.
Don't worry. More software is becoming available for the Mac every year.
You just figured out all politicians, regardless of party are taking advantage of us? You're catching on!
I choose not to download most of my music, but rather rip it myself in lossless format.
And risk getting another rootkit from Sony?

I'm glad someone brought up the dvorak layout. This will make switching to dvorak and back family friendly. "One touch dvorak."

Explain how to make something that actually cuts out of a DL-DVD laser, for a non-electronics geek, please? I'd like to mess with one.
I see another person did it too!

Gamma radiation is cool, but neutron radiation rocks. It makes things radioactive long after its gone!
Hard water may be a problem here, but have you had to drink heavy water?

I configured the wrong "default" router last week. I'm sure my neighbors appreciated that. Have I "tampered" with someone else's network?
It doesn't work in Links.
Might not be necessary to contact the ISP if your social security number is embedded in each TCP/IP packet along with the MAC address.
