The part the non-Libertarian leaves out is that the big corp OWN big gov. Isn't that what everyone is railing on about when they're calling for campaign finance reform/anti-lobbying laws/"Special interests"/etc?
I've only worked at one place that even considered Glassdoor, and it was considered a joke. A website where disgruntled employees went to bitch about why they got fired. I can't imagine why there would be a grand conspiracy between big government and big industry to bring it down. Besides, that is not their modus operandi. They are more likely to collude to co-opt media such as this, and have it send the message they want, like they do with our mass media.
Well, we could allow you to go in and tie the dog up before we go in. Maybe you can tidy up first. Burn the mail about your yoga classes or your daughter's wedding.
All Glassdoor has to do is not record who wrote the review. I log in, type a review into a textbook. Glassdoor takes the text and puts it in a database row that has company/date/review.
Then they turn to the government and truthfully say, "We have not possible way of telling you who wrote that review."
A competitive environment tends to lead one to ignore the consequences of their actions. You don't have time to think, "What will happen if I use this club?" in the middle of a fight. If China is competing to be the best in AI (will other nations sit by idly and allow them to "take the lead"?), will they consider what happens when they release Skynet or any of the other dystopian variations?
If Comcast, et. al. want to prioritize traffic, that means they know what traffic is going through their lines. How else would you know how to charge OrgA more than OrgB. Ipso facto, they have to drop the argument for why they qualify for common carrier status. You can't say you know and don't know what's going through the lines in the same breath. Well, yeah, I guess they can...but, nobody has to believe it.
If they're not going to be a neutral pipe, they can't logically continue to have common carrier status and will be responsible for any child pornography transmitted through their servers.
We don't choose libraries and architectures necessarily because they are the best for your business. Sometimes, it is because they are hot in the market and we want professional experience to put on our resumes.
CNN, et. al. could start by not making it so hard to distinguish between real and fake news themselves.
Seriously, if those newspapers didn't consistently present such a distorted caricature of the people they oppose, while giving a pass on corruption to those they agree with, people wouldn't even look for a different source in the likes of Facebook.
I was interviewing for a job a couple years ago. It was a company bought up by Quintiles that was automating the process of DNA sequencing. They were targeting sub $1,000 tests with the use case being targeted cancer drugs.
It was never about the engineering. It was about making noise, and being seen to make noise.
You hit around it, but you really missed the point. It was about more than the noise. It was about engineering. But mostly, it was about challenging your mates and building a better "it" than they build. It was about making you car do more than what the other guys could get their cars to do. It was about building a computer that would play the latest games smoother than the other guys in your group. The noise was just a side-effect that showcased your accomplishment. The liquid cooling setup and LEDs just showcased your accomplishment.
Those things used to be hard to come by. That's why your father had a shop dedicated to it. Now, the run of the mill electric car or PC runs circles around what the most knowledgeable hand tuning could do a generation ago. But, the desire to "outperform" the competition is a part of the human experience. I look forward to what the next great challenge will be.
I'm wondering what happens when the fridge hits at 6 time the speed of a bullet. (WTF is that? Why can't they just give a velocity?) Will it vaporize? Punch through?
I'd like to see them harness another, much smaller asteroid, by landing thrusters on it. Then, using it's much larger mass, impact with much lower velocity. Slowly change the orbit of the conglomerate to bring it all into a near Earth orbit and then use it as the beginning of a space station.
The analogy is that these are very much like biological weapons. If you're going to use those, you have to be damn sure that the "good guys" all have vaccines, and that the weapon can't mutate.
There is a very good reason that biological weapons are NOT used.
I'd be happy with legislation that simply left the Rs and Ds off the ballot. Is it to much to ask that a person actually KNOW who they are voting for?
...and the wisdom to distinguish between the two.

It's more baffling to watch from the inside, because you're considered insane for gaping at it with utter disbelief.
Good luck with that. I couldn't teach my boys not to write stuff down so that their mother wouldn't find it.
Hint for you younger guys. If you don't want to mom to find it, don't write it down!!

You might want to take a look at some of the rulings from Goruch. He seems to be willing to call bullshit on the government.

And NYC isn't sitting on what is basically one huge basalt boulder.
This reflects that if you try to step on a snake, it will try to get away.
how come do western powers engage in propaganda of our own against (you name it: communism, Islamist states, banana republic dictators)
You misspelled "Israel".
Why do they have a USB port? The only connection should be some obscure, proprietary connector.
Security by obscurity is not a complete fix, but it does cut down on attack vectors.
Maximizing profits is sciency stuff. The branch of science is called economics.
The panels pay for themselves by almost an order of magnitude in the first year. If that is a dent, it is a big one.

Oh, yeah. And we are keeping our resumes updated.

Are you saying there is no power generation market in the US?
Could somebody not not fix that for me?
