This is an important development in the world political scene. At the end of the day if there was another long term issue between the europeans and the americans the americans could really screw with people by giving them the wrong coordinates etc. Having a dual system benefits more than just the europeans as more people can use it and better satelite coverage if the systems are compatibile

Thats really what redhat is all about.. If you want to use enterprise linux your stuck with old versions of software that often may not have the functions et that you require (see Redhat ES3.0 with PHP / GD etc.

Maybe Redhat can supply newer binaries and source packages so that you can still get support for newer revisions of software if you require it. Makes it much more attractive as a corporate package then.

You dont have to worry about china and korea russia if the rest of the world wont recieve emial from them based on rbls etc etc. its an idealistic view but it could work if people where serious about cutting the costs of the impact of spam. And more often than not the music isnt of the best quality encoding.. often taking several downloads to find the righ copy. I know that all of my fellow users download the music they like then go and buy it from itunes or whatever other music service they choose. That way they are supporting the artists without having to buy a crap cd with 10 tracks you dont want for the one song you do.

In the UK its been shown that record sales are actually UP.. so what is all the waste of time about? battle of the corporate greed.

I know that I do that.. download all the songs I like.. check them out.. then buy them on a per song basis from other online music retailers. I hate buying cds because most of the time they include 10 songs i dislike and one or two songs I do like. Massive waste of money for one or two songs. If I really like the artist then ill buy the cd out of principal to support them. Unfortunatly alot of the Supporting them money goes to the record companies. Often when they do sfa promotion for these artists etc etc.

I feel that kazza is better for the music industry than it is bad. This has been seen by increased record sales in the UK and many other markets world wide.

  8. The internet on Lycos Anti-Spam Site Compromised [Updated] · · Score: 1

The internet should have some serious design changes from an ISP perspective. We should look at making sure that all large ISPs use RBLs, have SMTP rate limiting imposed on customers accounts and block outbound dst_port 25 on all routers. That could then be lifted in the event of an application from users that require the use of a home adsl/soho mail server etc.

The work required initially and maintaining the list would take some time and resources but in the end the reduction of spam across the internet would be significant.

DDoS'ing spam providers just makes everyone just as bad as eachother (not really in my opinion but in theory). At the end of the day we should all make a concerted effort at reducing the amount of spam on the internet. Simply by using RBLs across the board the result would be phenominal especially when the bigger the ISP the bigger the reduction in spam being recieved. Less over heads using rbl instead of spamassassin/imms etc.

I know on my personal server with aroun 100 users and 10-15 domains I get around 60k of email a week and about 2,000 emails are legit..

There are to many questions that things like this raise and are difficult to answer but overall the security hole should now be resolved and therefore not occur again.

But the real issue is that the tax loop hole gets closed so that companies can benefit less from moving people off shore. Yeah it may benefit the indians to some extent but there are 1bn of them and most of thier call centre staff are not perfect english speakers. I recently rang a UK based company that had thier call centre in india to find that hte person had such bad english I had to ask for someone else. I had to go through three people to find someone.
