    Where the lights go varies from state to state.

    In WI, they are at the corners or in the medians.

    In IN, they are OVER whatever lane they control. (They were in the 90's at least)

    I am going too guess that factors such as primary weather patterns (sunny vs cloudy, etc.) cause different states to do things differently. That, and the arbitrary and dumb state legislators.

    They are using sloped lenses, bottomless covers, etc.

    It doesn't really help much when you get 2 inches of sticky blown snow an hour.

    That said, even the REGULAR lights were all covered in snow. EVERYTHING was covered in snow after this storm, windows, buildings, trees, slow moving old people... everything.

    This is a stupid non-issue. It was a bad snowstorm, not some failure of the light design. Just because some two-bit reporter listened to some dumb county worker and put up some story is not a reason to panic over a good light design.

    Lastly, if you are too 'tarded to be wary and slow down upon coming up on an intersection with big yellow poles at the corners with no lights visible, stay off the fucking road.

    The way I see it, the only end-game is for advertisers to work closely with site owners so that ads are integrated with the content in such a way that software cannot distinguish the ads from the content.

    You can buy a "book for the blind" (paper form) and lend or give it to your friend overseas. Just like I can do the same with a paperback I buy.

    With an E-book (whatever form) you have the same rights (DRMed to hell or an illegal electronic copy) as the rest of us. It goes with the reader and you are not given the right to transfer it. Same as me.

    You don't want the same rights, you want SPECIAL EXTRA RIGHTS.

    I have done some of my best technical work drunk. Once I laid out a fourteen page Visio diagram for the whole provisioning process AT&T was using for the big data trunks, in a bar, with pitcher in front of me, being consumed by me and refilled when necessary. (This was in 1997, they have changed the process since then.) Granted that was documentation, but the document lasted for several years afterward as a training tool, and reference for the pointy-hairs.

    Drunk only counts if you have to talk to some douche who wants to whine about his email being down. If you follow best practices making backups and "un-dos" on the way like you should ALL the time, it's not a problem.

    The problem with your paranoia is that information is a tool that does far far more damage to "bad" type governments (theocracies, dictatorships, oligarchies, etc.) than it does to democracies (or democratic republics or other "good" type governments).

    Unlike other weapons systems, information has preferential kill for the stuff you want to kill. Nukes, cluster bombs, bat-bombs, land mines, and AKs don't, they can be used to destroy anybody. Information, even semi-truthful information only hurts the bad guys.

    So, this is one of those cases where you are getting your panties in a bunch over WHO is doing it, and not WHAT they are doing. If this were a Facebook project or some sort of flash-mob or other garbage nobody would even bring up "nefarious purposes" because it would just be a weekend diversion for the kiddies. As it turns out, diversions for the kiddies can be used to help topple brutal dictatorships.

    No you are not the only one to see "nefarious" plot in it, lots of other moon bat non thinking "liberals" thought the same thing and they are just as wrong as you are.

    In your comment, you are using a very common tactic that Fox News uses in its "reporting". It is common to hear on Fox News that "People are saying..." something. They seldom if ever mention who those "people" are. Is it an important official? Or the reporter's wife? Or just some guy they overheard on the street? Or the manager of their department? This is a deceptive and unethical tactic that propagates innuendo and rumor while wiping out logical reasoning and fact. Examples like this are seldom if ever seen on the broadcasts of organizations like the BBC.

    Glenn Beck has not denied raping and murdering a young girl in 1990. If he didn't do it, why won't he deny it?
