You could try a acomact flash to IDE interface in order to boot from CF. I know alot of people are using this for IOpeners. http://www.acscontrol.com/Pages/Products/CompactFl ash/IDE_To_CF_Adapter.htm?=AdSelect
I'm not sure of the price of these units but 2C Computing makes something close to what you are looking for. http://www.2ccomputing.com/ Just a note, 2C Computing Just announced that they are being acquired by Avocent.
The reason you cannot count Slashdot as a BLOG is because it is the original BLOG that grew into a community. Most Blogs will only be simple journals. I remember trying to tell my dad about Slashdot way back and told him it was like reading the newspaper and submitting your letter to the editor in a matter of seconds with other people commenting on you letter to the editor within a few minutes. He responded "so it's total chaos". That's when I decided I had no idea how to explain slashdot.
I agree Knology is good. I have cable/internet/phone through them. No longer need to pay the Bellsouth tax. The complete package is around 100 bux a month. I do experience about 1 internet outage/month that last less than a day average but I think this is because they are still building out thier network.
Knology in Alabama requires that you subscribe to extended baxic cable (which is amounts to all of the analog channels) before they will sell you cable modem access. Is this the go old "can't have Windows whithout IE" maybe but anyway it's probably smart on thier part. If you do decide to split off the cable modem to a TV then make sure you put a High Pass filter on the TV side. Otherwise the Cable Man In Black (good o'l boys in the south) will find you.h
I guess they forgot about the original leader in the 3D arena for consumer priced cards. Rendition really made some nice cards in their days. I guess 3DFX did to rendition what nVidia did to 3DFX. Well, it good we have Matrox and 3DLabs with something in the works to keep everyone in check.
I think Time Domain is still the name of the company and Pulson is the trademark name of the technology. If they did change the name of the company the sure haven't changed the signs on the buildings. I work next door to them. It's really interesting to see the test equipment in the parking lot. Lots of really strange shaped devices.
Zoid is petitioning the FCC to hinder Sirius Satellite Radio. Zoid claims their 802.11 radios operate at frequencies only 55mhz higher than Sirius' range, and fear that Sirius' transmitters could interfere with mobile data and internet service providers. h
It's really neat to see all of the Huntsille, AL references on slashdot. Most people think of Alabama as backwoods but Huntsville is the exception. Usually when there is a NASA, Ultra-Wideband or genetic reference then Huntsville is mentioned somewhere.
I got the Xircom CWE1120 that is actually a rebranded Cisco 340. Great card for $42.
Just got wireless yesterday

I've been watching the prices of various wireless components for the tast year or so. Finally the price vs benifit point hit and I purchase a Access Point for $125 and a WiFi card for $42. The box arrived yesterday and all I can say is this 802.11b stuff rox! Maybe it's still the "neat-o" factor but I'm already trying to think of other ways to use this technology. Maybe my old 200MHz laptop will make a nice MP3 box with the MP3s residing on my Linux server. Maybe my neighbors would like to start a community WAN. This wireless stuff is fun....
Firs off, I'm assuming that this is a software development project. If not then I'm sure the same questions will apply.
Is the direction constantly changing because the problem that you are trying to solve was not completely defined?
Are you developing solution and looking for the problem?
Are the "Quick and Dirty" solutions a result of a design change (you do have a design.. right)?
Does "it seem like management at this company is just winging it" because they are trying to do anything they can to keep the contract so they can keep you and others employed?
The best managers I've had are ex-techies that get the big picture. They know the difficulties of building a solution. But sometimes things change and they are forced to make decisions that may seem stupid to people that don't have the information that they do. A good manager will let the team in on the information and at times say "this may seem stupid but here is why we are doing this". I'm lucky that I work in an environment where the whole team can provide input to the project. Don't jump to the conclusion that the managers are clueless.
Has anybody read a Katz article? I've gotton to the point of looking to see if he wrote it and then skipping over it if he did. Ahhhhhh....I have become comfortably numb...
I thought it was 100base-T? Am I missing something?
Here's the qoute "And fast Ethernet (10base-100) costs about three percent of gigabit Ethernet on a per-card basis, so using four cards per PC still saves 88 percent."
Google results for 10base-100

Look at this statement:
"A recently released Gartner Dataquest report, sponsored by several companies including Microsoft, found that just 8.6 percent of server shipments in the U.S. during the third quarter of 2000 were Linux-based. "
Five years ago Linux was doing good to get notice from any big press, now Microsoft is paying for the free Linux press:)
I have not tried Nautilus yet. Is it a CPU hog? The statement about turning OFF "smoother but slower graphics" seems to say that. What can I expect out of a PPro 200 with a older Mach54?
I've seen more "shooting stars" in the last few days (nights) than I've seen in a long time. I can't wait for the big show...

Yep.. They killed the Antelope. Maybe they should ask permission next time before unleashing the wrath of the slashdot effect.

Don't pay.. Look at ads.. Is there a problem? You could just go away and not pay. Personally, I'm not sure, I might like the ads.

TimeDomain? They are the leader in the UWB development and hold a bunch of key patents.
