    It does everything I need. And it WORKS.

    (and that's in would, as in will if Apple allows)

    Comcast does do things like temp block port 25 on customer's modems that are zombie boxes sending out spam.

    The problem isn't an ISP problem - it's the uneducated, unwashed masses.

    Tools to protect are there on the provider's pages, and personaly, I'd rather them not be installed for me...no thank you.

    They're there for the user, but is it REALLY the ISP's job to hold EVERYONE's hand through installing them and setting them up?

    Well, why not stop it there - blame the computer manufacturer...or hell - hold the OS creator responsible!

    Ultimately, keeping the computer safe and clean is the end-users responsibility.

    They do own the damn thing after all - not the ISP.

    haha. erm...yea.

    sorry, the site is down, so i can't really go to it and see whats available to me

    for example, theres a lot of things I'm able to from work using a remote machine...through ssh.

    now, it would be nice to have a gui for some things...

    oh, and before you say "tunnerl vnc!"

    yea - would be great - if we could install vnc at work there...

    this could be a nice alternative to that.

    i imagine that it could also be implemented on a secure server...

    Where I work insists that we need to use IE instead of firefox b/c of the bugs found in firefox, and it's open source, and 'too difficult to upgrade'

    *sigh*

    Oh yea - we can use netscape - but they have version 7.2 on the machines - how many holes are in that?

    And they frown on us installing anything on the machines - and yes - that includes updating netscape - and yes - the firefox executable is blocked.

    of course...portable firefox would still work, i imagine ;oP

    How do they develop their own drivers, etc?

    And it DOES stand to make them more money...why am I going to buy a product that is unsupported?

    That's a lost sale...

    With wider compatability, they allow their marketability to improve.

    He truly simulated the experience of the average home user.

    His machine is obviously riddled with spyware.

    In my experience, OO always has taken a bit longer to open on any machine, however - when opening the App by double clicking a file, OO always seemed ready to edit sooner than the MS variants.

    Maybe try Ubuntu.

    Seriously - all the problems you complain about work flawlessly on every system I have tried.

    Power management, wireless, sound, suspend and hibernate modes, detected widescreen res, everything.

    Sure you have to install some stuff to get things like real medai - but you gotta do that on windows too!

    (not to mention - most people use other media players instead of winamp, so I dont see installing stuff as a big deal - lets me put on what i want)

    Seriously, try it if you haven't already. I've been using it for about a year and have been EXTREMELY satisfied.

    Darn - shame I just used my last mod point...

    Don't you know that the dinosaurs caused global warming that eventually dried up those lakes and killed themselves off?

    Seriously - we may be able to slow or speed up the evolution of the earth (ULEV vs mass deforestation) but ultimately - we aren't going to really be able to stop it.

    What about possibilities of things not on this earth - some big rock unexpectedly slams us from outer space - wouldn't that be a bitch?

    Actually, the medical market IS pretty darn big.

    However, they aren't looking for CRT's.

    For example, at WPAHS, they purchased about 3,000 Dell workstations over a 3 month period - all with 15" or 17" LCDs.

    If anyone should be in hot water - it should be the people responsible for securing the information and results in this situation.

    The means to view the info was/is extremely trivial and requires no 'hacking' experience.

    Shame to see so many denied just because curiosity got the best of them.

    Seriously, I bet that if say..the administrators were able to have access to a report on their health condition online,prior to hearing the news from their doc, through a simple change in a URL - they'd probably be all over it.

    Wouldn't you want to find out as soon as humanly possible for something that is regarded as a life changing experience?

    That's what college is after all...

    Nope, not a Best Buy tech.

    I am a very good listener, very good at explaining things, not to mention very patient.

    You don't need to be very computer savvy to determine whether the end of the cable you are holding in your hand is made of metal or plastic - or whether it looks like a wide telephone cord, a telephone cord on steroids, or something that is metal and squared that looks like it has 2 corners chopped off.

    Maybe the customer needs to develop his listening and perception skills.
