    Does anyone run factory control systems on Windows? Shouldn't that kind of application be left to a real-time OS, or at least an OS that doesn't compain when you change the hardware, or runs Windows Genuine Income Advantage Checking Verificator in the background, or runs any of dozens of stupid background services, or is susceptible to network worms, or...

    I'm sort of surprised that he didn't just do what the rest of the world does when they find a registration form that they don't want to fill out -- lie.

    You can't take the moral high ground and then contradict yourself by cheating the system. Besides the fact that if a hifn driver were to anonomously appear, it would very likely not be accepted into the tree as OpenBSD has very strict licensing requirements.

    ... sort of. But if you're going to put your newly acquired crypto hardware info to use in a situation that displeases W. -- say, including drivers in your free hippie-communist Linux distro, OpenBSD -- one might worry that they'd be quietly extradited to a little island in the caribbean.

    Are you serious?

    What documentation comes with Windows? The help system is shit, there is little usefull logging or debugging available in many of their services.

    I haven't used a Linux distro in the past several years, but I'm sure that their documentation is worlds better than what comes with Win2k/2003. And I can tell you that OpenBSD's documentation is superb. (Not to mention that the *BSDs trace a direct lineage to AT&T UNIX; does that suddenly make them as good as HP/UX? I have never done 3D modeling on OpenBSD, but if the needed application is available for OpenBSD I would pick it over the comercial unixes any day of the week..)

    There are policies in place to report corruption or illegal activities in regards to classifired material.

    And who are you going to report misdeeds to when ultimatly, the person who heads both the executive branch and the military thinks he can do what ever he pleases?

    Whether or not a program is illegal or unconstittutional, leakers have to expect to take a hit. They are violating their oaths of secrecy.

    Before they took any oath of secrecy, they took an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States; I think that trancends whatever policies -- secret or public -- put into place by the reigning administration.

    I can't drink water in quantities greater than perhaps a half glass at a time, it gives me the most intensely painful stomach acid

    May I ask what kind of water you're drinking?

    I find that the local (Hudson County, NJ) tap water will cause a bit of heart burn if I drink more than a pint in an hour; filtering it with a Brita does not help. I try to stick to bottled water, the cheapest I can find (usually about $0.90/gallon) tastes just fine.

    Yeah, that's what I want in my "point" releases...

    Major changes should be reserved for major releases, i.e. 2.0, 3.0, etc. Otherwise, just keep the program steady and stable. Firefox already does everything I need it to do; if there is a new revolution in bookmarking, navigating, URIs, or anything else, save it for the next major release.
