This is true. I just went through the green card process and they actually took finger prints of every finger and both my hands twice in the application process. Once for the initial green card and then another time for the extension after the first 2 years.
I love gmail, my only gripe is that sometimes when I email someone using Yahoo or Hotmail the email goes directly to their junk/spam folder. So I have to jump back to my old Yahoo mailbox and send the email again. If it weren't for that I'd be solely on gmail.
I had the exact same experience, in my case they said it was an invalid UPC number. I had to wait a long time on the phone, and told them that was impossible since it was the one right on the box. Few weeks later I got the rebate.
Actually, it's a rights issue. Services usually run as LocalSystem, this means that an Administrator can't directly kill it. However, if you run the Task Manager as LocalSystem (not sure about the exact command, but the idea is to schedule running task manager in the future using 'at/interactive <time> taskmgr.exe'), you can kill any service.
Hmm.. I think everybody should just use what he or she feels comfortable using. I love VIM, but should I try to convert others to dump their favorite IDE for VIM? No way. It'll ruin their productivity. And the same holds the other way around.
To me though, typing in the actual code takes far less time than thinking up the design.
What is wrong with an UI that involves a little learning from your part and gives you a lot back in speed of use? Most applications I see never get any quicker in usability (you still have to go through all those windows to do this one action).
In the end its just what you like, for me I just get frustrated if I have to go any further than 1 window to change something.

It just depends. You should pay customs, but to be frank I ordered also several books from Amazon and some CDs from CDNOW. I never had to pay any taxes. All of these were delivered btw by UPS or FedEx.
Some relative of me once orderred something that was delivered by the regular ptt and was immediatly hit with a VAT charge.

I was just able to login to talk.google.com using gaim and my gmail name/password. Too bad I don't know anybody there :)
Call them up and ask them for a tryout version. A coworker of mine did that and Ximian (was still ximian back then) just gave him a version to test.
Tea gives you lice.
;)
no kidding

If you are lazy, you'll be a great programmer. At least you won't reinvent the wheel all the time.
;)
Whats wrong with an Internet Cafe?? Thats pretty anonymous if you pay hard cash.
You can do this with some cheap NICs too, they might not remember their new MAC addresses though. But thats why there are boot scripts
I had some luck with some cheap NICs based on Tulip chips.

I remember DOS 3.3. It ran on my dad's NEC V20 with 20Megs of harddrive space and the top-notch EGA videocard of that time. Whohoo.
Back then I got in this mode of learning each and every command that came with DOS. And then I found fdisk. That was interresting!
Well, I didn't try XFree86 3.3.6, but their new drivers on their website are working like a charm. No probs here.
