On a side note, 2 companies I've worked with have black-listed SVN cause of its ability to be configured in an authentication mode involving plain-text. It didn't matter that no one there had planned on using that particular functionality, just that it even existed
Wow... do they also black-list CVS, apache and IIS?
I would like a phone that doesn't beep in silent mode.. or have buttons on the side of the flip phone which get pressed in your pocket which change the phone from vibrate to loud mode or take a picture of the inside of your pocket. I would like a phone that actually shows the date and times of missed calls. I would like a phone that adds new numbers to it easier. I would like a phone that has a time zone setting so that my sync'd calendar shows up correctly when I roam. Most if not all other phones really suck.
Yes, it is just a phone... But it is a hell of a lot better than any of the phones I have used. I hate my Sony-Ericsson phone and I hate my RAZR. The user interfaces are all backwards. I can list 15 major usability problems with both phones. None of the other phones that I've looked at are much better. The iPhone will win out just because it doesn't suck as much as everything else.
I use SVN on windows, mac os x, linux (ubuntu, debian, fedora) as well as netbsd. TortoiseSVN works great on windows especially for the point and click style users who need to use SCM. SvnX works great on Mac OS X. Altium PCB designer works great with the svn command line tools and shows graphical diffs of our circuit boards. But for some reason, Tortoise SVN and svn.exe are unable to access a GIT repositiory.
In addition, git works well for simple projects but not so well for projects that have many different related subprojects which share code.
For instance, our SVN repository holds everything needed for an entire product, including embedded linux with busybox, initrd and custom software and libraries - as well as DSP source code for two different add on cards, the GUI for mac, windows, and linux, the docutils xml file for the various manuals, and manufacturing and test code.
I'd love to use git once it attains the required maturity level so that I can do what I need with it.
I personally like how git has excellent Microsoft Windows support... It makes it a great tool for use with Altium PCB design software because of the handy svn->git compatibility tools that git has for windows. It allows all people in the enterprise to use git, regardless of the platform that they use.
That's easy to answer! Of course they would like to set up their own cell phone repeaters and collect the roaming fees for anyone using a cell phone near them!
Sorry, the code is gone. It really is quite simple, you can do it in GIMP if you want. Remember that jpeg encodes on 8x8 blocks. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JPEG...Any common brightness offset in this 8x8 block is called the "DC Offset". Changes to the DC offset for an 8x8 block will survive JPEG compression nicely. Yes it can be visible, depending on how much dc offset you apply; Try it out with GIMP yourself.
Of course, any jpeg rotation/skew/stretch/shrink WILL destroy your hidden data.
Since you know the JPG encoding scheme, it is totally feasible to put low frequency signal into the uncompressed image in such a way that it would survive a simple jpg encoding, even with 50% quality.
I attended an infiniband conference and someone from Novell spoke there about Linux and Infiniband and the changes that they are making to linux for real time performance. He specifically mentioned using RTLinux and was a bit rude to me and did not answer my question when I asked him specifically about the RTLinux/FSMLabs/WindRiver patents which have been controversial.
Doesn't matter to me though, Xenomai wins in every way and it is not encumbered by any existing patents.
Navigating hierarchical menu items with a touch pad is my pet peeve. On any platform.
It reminds me of the tilting marble maze game, or the old "Operation" game.
Click on the "File" menu. Slide to "Open Recent ->", then the recent list pops up next to the file menu item. Now I have to slide the mouse pointer to the right, making sure that I do not stray above or below the line, otherwise the submenu disappears! Some applications have multiple levels of submenus! Why can't I just click on the menu item and have the submenu 'stick'?
No, that is incorrect. It is not about price, it is about choice. When Dell officially supports linux then they are saying that the computer is guaranteed to work with it and all the drivers required are installed and work.
It is always tough to make a laptop work for primary use with Linux, besides intel based Apple's, unless the manufacturer specifically supports all the combinations of hardware for linux.
Very interesting! Does git-svn work on Win32 and Mac OS X?
Newer schematic and circuit board layout programs support svn directly (via svn.exe on windows) - Would there be a git-svn.exe to replace the svn.exe with the same command line set?
All the print and advertising professionals that I know still use calibrated CRT's for their colour work and still do not trust any LCD's for colour correctness...
WinCE supports multiple architectures, even ones that have no bios, like ARM... All that is necessary is to be able to execute a program that takes over the system.
So, ultimateley, with regards to the previous parent, it is up to microsoft to make the support for it. It is not a fault of linux/opensource if microsoft chooses not to.

You do not understand. The GPL GIVES you additional rights.
The difference between the GPL2 and the GPL3 is that the GPL3 gives you a little bit less additional rights.
Tivo is free to use linux and they still can do DRM in hardware if they want, which would work just fine for their usage.
But they can not lock up their system with a secret password.

Most definitely bettern than SVN, right?

What if they tag a stupid photo of someone that looks like you with YOUR name?
What recourse do you have?

No, not unless the resize was an integer multiple....

I wouldn't have even heard about this if the car didn't crash!!

Some platforms by default do not allow keyboard navigation of menus....
The 'feature' of hierarchical menu controlled by a mouse pointer is not a feature... It is an admission of poor GUI design.
