it is very similar to UMTS ( or european 3g) the only difference essentially is that there is thet there is a minumum power for handover required. It does effect cell breathing and various other things.. but handsets for CDMA2000 should be interchangable with UMTs networks.... at least that is the thoery
After working in the cellular industry I know the there is an intrinsicly built error in to gps ( supposedly to prevent nuclear attacks) of about 20 to 30 meters ( how that would stop a nuke I am not quite sure but hey...) so even with gps people woud still not know where they are:)
Your point is valid but I feel that I have to point out that in a big bisness compatabilty is nessarry esp in the inital stages of change. No company can afford to shut down for a few weeks while the change occurs. by default this is a problem because microsoft was there first.
microsoft ofcourse is gonna play on that forever beause they can. That is the one advantage they will always have over linux.
as with most quantum work. it may work well when isolated as with most CERN experimaents but I am sure that decoherance will cause problems. But ti is a fantastic breakthrough and I look forward to seeing how they over come manufacture problems.
If the big record industies stop producing regurgitated and unoriginal music music sales may pick up. The key to increased sales is inovation. A new movment, trying to bing more of the underground scean in to the commersial arena ie. bring back the janis joplins and the jimmi hendrix and not try and force feed us briney spears.
piracy is over rated.I know that if I really like an album I will buy it (hence a fairly extensive hendix collection) produce music worth buying and people will buy it. All this royalties on second had music is crap all the companys wanna do is milk a bone dry cow. next thing you know they will be charging you to lend your cds to you friends.
From what I know.. since the theory of the big bang came was postulated the cosmic crunch theory has been around as well. I have read it in a number of book.. all of which I cann't recount but a few are Hawking's BHOT and McFadden's quantum evlolution SOme even going to the extent of in terms of quantum effect that time would seem to reverse for all living creatures.. a revese chaos if you will.
Somebody please explain to me why it is all over the news now ??
the way I understand it is that GPRS uses a different modulation system then the current GSM there for giving a wider and faster access to apps protocols. the key being is that that M-sevices 'co-operates' better with this coding allowing for better or more stable apps.
it is kinda like saying bz2 is quicker to use than standerd bz files
The lasers are obviously very good for optics tech but the atrical mettions nothing about the power avalible to the lasers. If they can be used 4 heat.
This will allow cos of the size of the laser, mould makeing on a much grander and smoother scale
I tis good to see there is progretion in the silicon materials tech. I see the up shot of it and the way it will benafit 2days tech but surly it is kicking a dead horse...
In 2003 surly current develpoment tech will be implemented which will not require any silicon tech. most devlopment tech utilise GaAs and other substrates. nano tech is also speeding up the move away from si tech. Intramolecular tech will remove the need altogether.
It is a little frivolous but aren't the best ideas. I few ideas I had were:
-cutting boards for kitchens instead of haveing twenty types of boards there could be one
-needles or sugical equipment manufactured 'laced' with the polymer.
-operating tables , resteraunt counters and floors, door knobs to public bathrooms anything that could benafit from a more sterile enviorment.
My recokoning is that this artical is going to to be biblical for all the creationists out there. This , no matter how acurate the artical is going to be blown out of preportion to the piont the people will argue that the earth is only 4000 years old.
Persoanaly I think it is it could be worded more carefully
To be honest I am the last person to care wheather or no they are abolished even, but this is when they are taking the piss. This artical makes it sound like these people think that joe public is going to stop buying recordeds instead just download it on to their phone. There has to be a piont when even the fsking record companyare goin to say enough.
Re:I'm worried about this. It could be a disaster.

If you are correct this tech is still in devlopment stage the idea is to utilize the tech's advantages and limit the disadvantages. It is cetainly not retograde..uncertain,maybe but definately progressive.
Here is a thought... Black holes attract light through gravity... gravity causes acceleration... light travels fastest in space becuse it is a vacume yet is bent in to a a black hole. what if it was traveling into a black hole. Would there be a terminal velocity of light?

end of rant
I personally think that by 2003 most new tect will involve nano tech and further progression in tech.
