A decent enough CNN article summary. It's actually good that Blanco didn't turn over federal control of the national guard because under posse comitatus, they couldn't act as policemen and they need policemen.
Hello 1985. We want our Carmen Sandiego and Supermunchers back. -l
p.s., We were using those for learning in our elementary school circa 1987. Supermunchers ruled. I have a floppy image of both I load up in Dosemu every now and then. Good times.
The nice thing about lab meat is you can have such a wide variety of styles and flavors built in from the factory floor. You can have beer massaged Kobe beef at a fraction of the price. You can have built in italian, bbq, greek, etc. seasoning. All this and more for a fraction of the cost.
Hell, I eat meat and I still prefer good veggie burgers to meat ones due to the lack of flavor in the vast majority of meat burgers and the amount of time it takes to make one. I can spend 20 minutes making the perfect Mexican-flavor-esqe burger or I can microwave an equally tasty Morning Star Fajita Burger in 1 minute.
His biggest problem is he hates shooters (said Medal of Honor and Metal Gear were the "worst games ever"). He does like the new Megaman though and I think he would really like Nintendogs if they'd 1) release it in English and 2) he knew more than 1 other kid with a DS (c.f., no Pokemon games). He likes Sim City, but thinks The Urbz is stupid, so I've looked into getting him a GBA Sim City or something like that.
I tell ya, if they had C&C Generals on DS he'd buy it in a nanosecond. He *loves* that game on the PC.
(BTW, we did buy a GBC off Ebay with an A/C adapter and a couple of his old favorites (all of which he had sold already...) so he could play whenever he got the urge).
I was using it in the Bugs Bunny sense -- which I think is a deliberate mispronunciation of "moron". Hrm, "deliberate". Deliberate can mean "intentional" as well as "slow and methodical" -- think "with all deliberate speed" (Earl Warren in Brown v Board of Education, borrowing from Oliver Wendell Holmes).
Agreed. My son is pissed off at the lack of games that interest him for his DS. He actually told me he wanted to sell it and get an SP again so he can play Crystal and some of the other GBC games!
Nintendo has really shot itself in the foot with the DS, based on our experience. -l
That is *not* how you start a flame war on Slashdot! You have to start with something like "Hairy Armpit 1 is faaaaar superior to Hairy Armpit 2 due to X, Y, and Z features and most importantly that Hairy Armpit 2 stinks to high heaven! I mean, who designed that piece o crap anyway?"
Children have never had anything to say to each other. Their conversation has always been inane chatter, mere practice for real conversation as adults
Have you ever sat and listened to random people conversing? Both the old and the young talk about stupid shit all the time. So children do not have a monopoly on "inane" conversation. Furthermore, children do talk about important things, just rarely when adults are within earshot.
I think forking is WRONG! Dividing the forces only leads to user confusion and lessens our ability to gain ground against our firmly entrenched proprietary competitor!

p.s., Personally, I think Gnome Lager is far superior to KDE Ale as we all know gnomes are much heavier drinkers and better brewmasters.
I see a lot about ditching computers. I agree with that except that there is still a need for computer classes. I was talking to a teacher the other day who said their middle and high schools had eliminated computer classes altogether. The result was that English teachers had to become Word Processor and Typing instructors instead of English teachers. Why is that?
Just because little Johnny can pop in a cdrom, click "Install", and be up and running on the latest "gawt-danged vidya game" in 10 minutes doesn't mean he knows anything about typing, using a word processor or a spreadsheet, programming, -- you know, all that crap they expect you to know before you get to college.
So, in summary, + Computer Classes - Fancy computer-based "instruction"
I found that learning Latin helped me understand more about how English works. Others I know who took Spanish, German, Russian, etc. have said the same.
So, I'd say that anecdotally at least, it appears to help other areas of learning.

Cause you use the "offender" as your base station instead of the others.
-l
Agreed -- though combined with a mesh technology this would be a help, not a hindrance.

What a frickin mess... at every level... yuck.

Really, this argument boils down to thin client vs thick client; and it greatly depends on what you're doing as to which is better for you.
I like this comment.

I've had way too much coffee this morning.

Abbot: "Your base!"
Costello: "It's not mine."
Abbot: "are belong to us!"
Costello: "What the he-"
Abbot: "You have no chance to survive. Make your time."
Costello: "OK, I have no idea WTF you're talking about. You hear that? I'm going home, you fscking maroon."

Pretty impressive troll there.

Just watch for the boobies links on Fark and you'll get caught up pretty fast on boobie current events...

Pizza is far superior served as a cold breakfast -- especially when you dip the crust in your chocolate milk.

Aqua's "Barbie Girl" is satire, actually.

I hate switching between the two times. I'd prefer DST all the time or not at all.

Ammonia is a component of urine. I wonder how much ammonia you could get from, say, New York City's sewage system?
