    I do. I see the ~$50 i pay every week and realize that my ~$50 is building roads, putting my sister and millions of other kids through school. I couldn't give my sister a decent education on ~$50/week. Maybe you should think of it as repaying everyone else for your primary education costs.

    I've tried Firefox many times in the past year, every time downloading add-ons to make it just as functional as Opera, but it still comes up short.

    There are just so many little things Opera does that you can't do with Firefox. I

    Every time I read a slashdot post about another version I will give it a try, but so far I'm still using Opera.

    Opera has this functionality built-in.

    Tools -> Quick Preferences -> Enable Plug-ins.

    An artist has every right to decide how to sell his or her own work. If I make a series of 3 paintings I am within my bounds to refuse to sell them individually. (hell, even those "trendy" art postcards at Ikea are only sold in 5 packs) Artists can't tell you how you should interpret their art, but how dare you tell them how they can sell something they created. If that's the case, why not release one one-hour-long track on the CD instead of ten or fifteen five-minute-long tracks?

    Which is it:

    1) Does the seller have the "burden of proof" to prove that he uninstalled his copy and is not violating his license or

    2) Is the seller to be given the "benefit of the doubt" and assumed to have uninstalled his copy, unless information is found to indicate otherwise? Does it matter? Really? I mean, you have a legal right to sell the CD whether the software is still installed on your hard drive or not, right?

    Once he sells the CD he would probably be violating some law if the software were still installed, but selling the CD would be totally legit.

    maintenance contracts are not tangible goods. Software is not a tangible good. Trying to create a business model around the fiction that it's a tangible good is a dead end.

    Personally, I'd wish there was a proxy/plugin that could randomly change my user agent string, either on a per-hit basis or a per-site basis Opera can do this out-of-the-box. No plugins required.

    I just browse with Images disabled. It's the only way I can still function on dial-up.

    Note to all slashdot users: If you are ever stuck using dial-up, the first thing you should do is download Opera.

    Anyhow, my point is that while it's a for-profit, it's still "for the public good" in a sense, since it exists to support non-profits, and thus it's not crazy to donate them CPU cycles. Kind of how Microsoft's monopoly power is used to support the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation?

    Microsoft is a force of good in the universe! Who knew!?

    That is quite interesting. I wonder how many atheists would be willing to admit that they would change their minds if they were presented with legitimate proof (however high that requirement may be) of some sort of divine being. I would.

    God knows every time I see Barret, Vincent, Sabin, or Auron I think "Gee how effeminate these guys are!"

    Sure there are a few effeminate men *cough*CloudSquallIrvine*cough*, but that doesn't mean that all or even most of them are.

    And aside from Beatrix (with her eye patch),Paine, and the (semi-spoiler) Pirate chick from FFV most of the FF women weren't really that "strong" (in the macho muscular jock sense)

    Remember our old friend DRM? Now DVD stores can make DRM'd DVDs, which only work once, and which also don't pollute the environment.


    We're talking about PAPER hard drives. Unless I missed something paper is made from trees.

    Heh. So you admit you are lying... First you say it never crashed, and then you say that you know it auto-saves your session after a crash.

    The only times i've ever not voluntarily closed Opera is when windows crashes.

    I use it for popup blocking (well really I disable javascript entirely) mouse gesures (fantastic mouse gestures. Better than Mozilla's) Tabbed browsing (better than mozilla's again) and most importantly (to me anyway) quick enable/disable of images.

    I'm on dialup and lord knows if I had to sit through every frikkin image loading I'd go insane.

    I disable images by default, then when I want to look at porn^H^H^H^Himages I just click a button (twice) to load them all.

    Has mozilla incorporated this feature yet? (either included or as an extension?)
