Erm... i believe that that spam, tho for the US and the companies are IN the US, it is routed through other countries. Most ISPs here have it in their EULA that any abuse of their email system or any evidence of SPAM and you are blacklisted from their and sister group's networks.
i still agree that the spammer's (the company that has the spam routed) should be taken down.
Not to be a total jerk, but Mel would have not gotten far if he was. The number of Jews, practicing or not, in the movie scene would make it impossible for a anti-semite person to survive. no, this is not just a stereotype. Just like jews in banking, their presence has a historical reason, essentially being in the right position to assume the roles in the early times of film.
on the subject of the violence, just look at the historical description of what the tools of brutality were made of. bits of metal and glass on a whip would shred your skin. The whipping of the prisoners was not common for crucifixion, but it was done. Even then, the death was long, at least until the romans broke their legs.
don't let your distaste for Christianity shadow your judgment. Also, all of you, try looking at it from the perspective of someone else, someone *gasp* not like you. I am not christian and yet i can understand the point of view of these people who greatly value this film. try to see from another POV and you may grow.
Sorry, but, as reported in the song, Westly Willis kicked his ass. Rather badly too. but what _can_ you do against a 7 foot, 300 lb. schizophrenic man?
Another thing, if you like polyphony, try Aphex Twin. Very crazy stuff, but amazing stuff from a musical stand point. don't let the tag of "techno" drive you away. This man has done stuff that others will not do for about 5 to 10 more years.
You, sir, have not been looking. As someone who has worked in several Opera productions (supporting roles) i think i know what is good and what is not. what they DO have is some of the best recordings around. Search for Maria Callas, lots. Do a simple search for Tosca, 2 full recordings, i believe (i just bought another recording).
Do a search for ANY of the trad. Jazz and some sacred works and you will be impressed with the scarce recordings. Why? it is not the fault of Apple. They are actively trying to court the music companies and the associated artists. When they say no, there is not much they can do. Blame the artists and companies, not Apple for the lack of selection of your "serious" music (a term which is very self centered, as pointed out in other posts).
if they don't have what you want, request it. I requested Ani Difranco in month 2 of the availability of iMS, then contacted her people to encourage on that side, and guess what? they were in in about 3 months. Think of it like Bugzilla. request a bug (lack of songs) be fixed, be specific, wait a little, get what you want (probably based on demand for the artist/song/recording).
It took them forEVER to decide, do you think this bureaucratic behemoth (which i love and cherish) will be able to change course and reverse its decision? I am thinking not.

I suppose you are also making a connection with apples work=Art, as art is supposed to get a reaction, positive or negative, or is is not good art. Is that why everyone is so simply *meh...* with MS? Because they have not approached their design as art? It would also explain why the kind of people who tend to have a major taste for art are more drawn to Apple products...
Personally, and i think i am voicing this for everyone, we would feel a LOT better (tho, not good) if this was a govt. operation. But as it is not, people's private info is going to people who have nothing stopping them from selling said information.
this is just a bad idea and should be carried out only by the correct authorities.
I hate to say that my 4 year old MS mouse is going strong. my iPod just died. About the same age, they were. (no, it was not the battery, it was the HD and more like my fault.)
What you still don't seem to grasp is that they are doing what they are required to do to keep their trademark by law. Now, they could have dropped lawsuits on all their asses and blew them away. but they KNOW that these people are their friends and want to keep them, all while keeping their heads above the financial waters. Don't get all huffy because they are doing what is best for their branding and still being nice about it.
From the ABA "United States has no more than 25 to 35 percent of the world's lawyers." This is adjusted for people doing law work that would require a cert in the US. And we have what % of the people? 290,342,554 in the US, a little under 6 _Billion_ in the world...
Tho far from the 70% of Quale (i would never quote that guy on anything, never even mentioned him), the number is still very high. Keep in mind, this is from the American Bar Association...
i'd recommend doing a single user startup and doing fsck. after that, if it does not work, when the chime starts, hold down shift, ONLY after the chime, and hold until you see the grey apple, or after. you should see "safe start" or something similar. if THAT does not work, insert disk and run the full disk utility repair.
Why? this is america, not like NL where you can explicitly say that you don't want unsolicited junk mail. Why should there be a double standard for electronic versions of the mail when snail mail gets to do it? Is it because of the money that the PO gets for the postage?
there is a case in point that bulk email would not die on the internet either. they would have to just focus a bit harder on data mining.
This is not a sue happy world. America has an absurd amount of lawyers per capita v. all other countries. We also have more lawsuits than any other people.
Well THAT was Un-American of you! Let the customer decide! oh... yah, that would be "unethical"

Does admitting that many of the things he says are right scare you? Yes, if you watch the movie once, you realize that he is slanted in his view. NOT A BIT SURPRISING!
I was skeptical also, but he touched on almost every source that i found, just looking on the internet and not including the defamation sites. You, sir, seem like you are desperately looking for a reason not to believe ANYTHING that the movie says. Being someone who has been shot at and lost school friends to nutters with guns, i simply cannot reject the truths that are in that film.
I have to say that i have not seen one production of That Scottish Play that has not had major disasters in it's production, usually in the form of major wounding of members of cast or crew.
Running gag (n): A joke used repetitively which commonly turns to absurdity over a prolonged time.

it is OBLIGATORY to take a pot shot at MS, as they tend to embody the kind of software and business practices that many, if not most of us feel is detrimental. if you don't get that, then you MUST be new...

the readdressing of the term "serious" music makes me feel better about the grandparent, by the way.

hmph... '"serious" music...'
_Used to_ are the key words there. MAN, i have not heard that one since the late 80s... wow... *memories....*
