I'm waiting for the new Motorola - for more info see www.howardforums.com.

So not only will you get high speed connecticvity in supported areas (1mpbs+), you can connect your pc, pda or more importantly, laptop to your cell by bluetooth!

The phone also supports mp3 playing via SD card, plus has an onboard camera (1.3mp) etc so I'm ditching my mp3 player and old digicam as well... ...now hand me the Verizon pom-poms so I can do the happy-customer dance ;)

  9. Two Screens?? on Nintendo's Iwata Talks European Neglect, DS Origins · · Score: 1, Insightful

I really don't see what the all the fanfare surrounding the two screens is. The idea had been milked by Nintendo for years before they decided to dump it in favor of the Gameboy. Not sure what I mean? Check these out: Donkey Kong, LCD game Zelda, LCD game and there were a multitude more. So when legendary 76-year old Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi specifically hit upon the idea, and proposed, 'Why not have the two screens I think he was just having a flashback to the good old days of 2 screen gaming.

  10. What's your budget? Are you experienced? on Cameras for Dark and Wet Locations? · · Score: 1

If you have a tight budget and are relatively experienced at handling decent (read expensive) camera equipment, I'd suggest visiting a good camera store and renting a pro-level camera, and a bright zoom lens. The pro level Canons are weather-proof and relatively rugged and will give you great quality pics, the kind of which you can even enlarge and sell for obscene prices...

If you are not too keen on renting equipment then there are a bunch of waterproof cameras out there...

  11. Movies, who needs them.... on Nintendo DS to Play Movies? · · Score: 5, Insightful

I think what Nintendo should focus on is improving the gamer's *gaming* experience otherwise they stand to lose the very users that made the Gameboy as successful as it is today.

Just ask Nokia, they forgot that their core market was cellphones and instead of leveraging their effort at polishing up their cellphones they ventured off into gaming with less than satisfatory results.

In addition, movies on the go demand a lot more from the DS including copyright protection etc which, Nintendo shouldn't IMHO delve into...

In short, Nintendo should put their boffins to good use figuring out how to take advantage of the dual screens for gaming and not for movies.

    (That comment was sooo 2001)

But on a more serious note, the Transmeta chips would have been pretty interesting from a clustering standpoint due to their low power consumption and heat dissipation. It is sad that they can't run Linux directly.

  13. It strikes me that... on Crack the Code and Win a Million Bucks · · Score: 1, Interesting

Anyone with the capability to solve the math required to break the encryption might do a lot better than one million dollars.

If they were malicious, all they'd have to do was wait a year or so until the encryption was incorporated into mission-critical applications and then use their knowledge to gain access to those applications. Something tells me that THAT would be worth a lot more than the cool million they are currently offering.

  14. What if... on SCO - What have WE Forgotten? · · Score: 3, Interesting

It is not very far-fetched to assume that SCO's tactics have been almost solely targetted at boosting their shareholder value. This year might be different however. If SCO doesn't come up with concrete irrefutable evidence to support their claims they might end up hurting the very shareholders they have been trying to appease.

Unless...they get taken over by some bigger company with an eye on the pie they have baking...

What I'm trying to get at is that with a market capitalization of merely 250 million and with the intellecual property claims they are making they are begging for IBM or (maybe even) Microsoft to buy them out.

Far fetched? Probably. But imagine if the SEC & the European regulators were to allow such a thing to happen?
