Look at what they did to "Global Test", a 64 word sentence that explains EXACTLY what it means, and then turning into a "what did he meant by that!?!?".

No, I think it's very clear what he meant by that. He wants his decisions to be supported by the UN and EU. But then, why did he vote against the first gulf war when the UN and most of the EU (before it was the EU) was in favor of it and we a had a very broad coalition? We certainly passed the "global test" there.

When France, Germany and Russia are bribed by the next oil rich dictator... we'll do what exactly? We can't pass that "global test", that's for sure.

For most advanced computer users using the "non-letter" keys and the ability to quickly delete characters is a must. I find my right hand tilted up towards the backspace and []\-= keys. I find myself using my pointer and middle finger to cover the most of the letters on the right side of the keyboard (those two finger typcially hover over the K and L) and my pinky and ring finger covering the other charcters (on the right side). Not the official way of doing things, but I don't know anyone (coworker or friend) who types faster.

You don't see the bigger picture. The idea that they're working towards is to be able to hibernate for long periods of time, without the ill effects.

Obviously hibernating for 100 years is something off in the future, and I'd be suprised to see it possible in the next 30-40 years, but I'd be pretty suprised if we can't put someone in a sleep like state for a month or two by 2010-2015 and have minimal ill effects. Sleeping or a coma is not the same as hibernating. True hibernating animals (unlike the bear, which doesn't hibernate, but just sleeps deeply) typically exhibit exceptionaly decreased metabolism and many times have their body temps drop to just a few degrees above freezing.

If you had RTFA you would have seen that some very preliminary work they've done has already shown decreased cell activity. There's nothing "magical" about it.

Many physicists, including Stephen Hawking (see Hawking's Chronology Protection Conjecture), believe that due to the problems a wormhole would theoretically create, including allowing time travel,

Hawking now believes the opposite. Part of the recent black hole hoopla was that space/time travel in this matter wouldn't work.

This type of research is the future of human space exploration, at least for the forseeable future. Sorry, but light speed, or anything near light speed, just isn't going to happen anytime soon.
The only downside to this is that the space traveler may seem like the trip only lasted a short time period, when it in fact took 10 years. By the time he gets back home his family will have aged 20 years. It actually may be the closest we get to time travel as well (want to see the future? just hybernate for 100 years).

Ok, some of this stuff would be pretty damn rad. And the idea that the combat gear that will be available in 2020 will "absorb unlimited numbers of machine-gun rounds" is all nice and everything (although, the fact that Jean-Louis "Dutch" DeGay keeps dropping the word "nanotechnology" makes me hesitant). But how the hell is this all going to be powered? Health monitors, WAN, radio, fancy optical display, etc, plus all of the other gear they need (lights, night-vision, etc), plus a power supply of some sort (battery/solar?) all super rugid and topping out at 50 pounds (~23 KG). I wish them the best, but right now, I don't think so.
