That's because they pay the most taxes, at the highest percentages. Talk about biased "facts".

Does it hurt you to know that the top 50% pays over 95% of the taxes, while the bottom 50% pays the rest?

Not only do the wealthy fund the programs with their taxes, they also use the least government services.

How much more redistibution of wealth do you want in this country? Should the top 40% pay 95% of the taxes? The top 30%? The top 20%?

The majority of rich people don't hoard their money. That idea is an untrue stereotype. The majority invest it, start new companies, hire more employees, expand their businesses, buy expensive cars, boats, homes, etc. and, in general, keep the economy moving.

I can tell you've never been to Europe

Actually I've been to Europe twice now (which is unfortunately much less than the rest of my family, including my wife), albeit just to England and Ireland (where I had my first taste of Guinness ever about a block from the brewery and now I'm spoiled - it doesn't taste quite right in the US). If everything goes well I will be heading to Italy next year.

nor read any European news outlets
Actually I take a look at a number of European news sites weekly. Typically the BBC, the Guardian and a smattering of random European newspapers. Try this site for links to papers from pretty much every European country. I also visit here regularly. I typically focus on French and German newspapers. The problem, of course, is finding fully translated English versions (I know enough German and Spanish to be dangerous, but not enough to read a newspaper). If you've got links to ones you'd recommend, I'd gladly take a look.

But then again, why would you? Clearly you are happy with your "fair and balanced" Fox News.

In my post it's pretty clear that I view Fox News as having a conservative slant.

You've stubmled on to the secret of the socialists in Europe. You can have any view point you want, as long as it agrees with theirs. What really gets them is that, while they're supposed to be so diverse and accepting of those who are different, it is America that by far has the most diverse and varying viewpoints, both politically and culturally. Unfortunately for many in Europe that's what you get when you only have one viewpoint when it comes to the press and much of your news is from former/current state run agencies. Knock press outlets like Fox News all you want, but at least we have different viewpoints instead of just Left, Far Left, and Communist.

I know you're just trying to be a jackass, but quotation marks don't work as well in a medium like the internet were people scan much more than they do in traditional media (paper, magazine, etc). So using quotes (especially starting off with a set of double quotes) doesn't work as well. Compare this:

"'I don't trust Microsoft and Intel to do it right.'

And they speak so highly of you. Despite crappy business practices, they actually have some talented people that produce some good solid work. If you want to be paranoid, why don't you look up EFI and cross reference with DRM?"

It could be argued that the DRM tendancies of Microsoft/Intel are a reason not to trust them to do it right. As far as DRM goes, I would tend to define a BIOS with that in it as NOT doing it right.

It's very unclear where the original posters quote originally ends, where the second quote begins and ends, and where the final poster actually states something new. Compared to this:

"I don't trust Microsoft and Intel to do it right."

And they speak so highly of you. Despite crappy business practices, they actually have some talented people that produce some good solid work. If you want to be paranoid, why don't you look up EFI and cross reference with DRM?

It's much clearer which is the original quote, which is the first reply to that quote, and which is the final reply to both of the quotes.
