I second this. I have only bought used CDs in the last 3-4 years. Between iTunes and my local store (http://www.bullmoose.com/ in the states of NH/ME) I've never felt any need to look break any copyrights.

It has disappeared for me in the last 2-3 years, since I can no longer get behind the wheel of my car without finding my way blocked by some goddamned asshole in an SUV/pickup truck/minivan.
Reminds me of a similar happening around 1985 or so. I was working at K-Mart. There was a sale of, I believe, TI-99 computers. The sale price was $95 (it had been discontinued, or something) and there was a $100 rebate. So you would be up $5 and get a computer. When they opened the doors that morning we had about a dozen people sprint to the back of the store. There was some pushing and shoving. I don't recall how many machines had in stock but it wasn't many, perhaps 5-6.
That's because of the 5upr-1337 worm I just released to attack the routers nearest everyone with mod points. I guess it wasn't 1337 enough, though: some moderators still apparently have access.
Reminds me of the "LapVAX" in either "Emerald Eyes" or "The Long Run" by Daniel Keyes Moran. How I wanted one back in the day... Now I have SIMH+OpenVMS running on my laptop.

Aren't you more likely to wind up with elephants?
Eh? I'd guess that the average age on my server (Elune) is about 12, judging by the chat.

How many locks would a Lockheed lock if a Lockheed could lock heeds?
How about "The Thing That Should Not Be"?
"My God, it's full of bars!"
So 2525 isn't the target year, per the song? :-)
I recommend emacs, it's the emacsest!

Digital Retard Mitigation, yes...
My friends and I also spent many, many hours playing Battleforce/Mechforce. Awesome game. I just couldn't get into Titans of steel, though :-(.
Both mine voted Aye :-(. So much for "Live Free or Die"...
Just like the U.S. government: population-based votes in the House, state/territory-based votes in the Senate.
I don't know whether any other nations' governments use a similar system.
Says Cayman I Carpedie.. :-)

The Cybernetic Samurai, by Victor Milan
A conversation you never want to hear in your bedroom...
> Each IBM could to the work of 4 HP's easily, and ran much cooler than a single HP.
And only use up 50% more letters.
Someone's signature on his Usenet posts was:
ESCHEW OBFUSCATION!
ESPOUSE ELUCIDATION!
And you're such a cheap bastard that you can't scrape together the 9,000 gold pieces for a couple of Raise Dead spells?
>I generally block most advertizing but ocassionally i'll come across something interesting, unobtrusive and it will catch my interest.
If you weren't looking for it and it "caught your interest", then pretty much by definition it was obtrusive.
Or better yet, buy my highly informative book on the subject. Just $39.95 plus S&H.
I initially read this with the wrong meaning of "wood", and was rather amused :-).
