  1. Who Really Needs the Bandwidth? on Rogers Cable Plans Fees to Curb Bandwith Hogs · · Score: 1

Why don't all these cable and DSL companies take a look at their user base, and instead of offering HIGH SPEED 1.5mbit/sec downloads to Granny and Grandpa just give them a dialup account? This will allow them to check their email and see the cute little pictures of their grandchildren. I mean are they really gonna use all the bandwidth that they are given? How many people in this country would actually use 1.5mbit/sec (or whatever is most common) of bandwidth if they had it? I'm sure several slashdot readers could use it, but most Americans only need a dialup, however companies and society has impounded it in their heads that faster is better and "you can download 50 emails in 10 secs with ADSL!!!"

    Just my 2 cents

A bit off the subject (well maybe not, who can recommend a game that doesnt run on Linux?), but any word on the single player Linux binaries?

  3. Segway Rage? on This is IT? · · Score: 1

Now I live in a rather rural part of North America, a place where sidewalks are not very busy. So I may have no clue what I'm talking about. But if sidewalks are as busy as they are portrayed in some movies, and now Kamen wants people to use this instead of walking on sidewalks? Now if you ask me, this has got to be pretty stupid, I mean there's already a crowd walking on sidewalks and every place else, now all we need is some dinky device to take up more space on the sidewalk, piss more people off, so we can have more ass kicking on the sidewalk. All I can say is, "WOW, what an invention."

  4. Re:Explain please, why no single player? on Wolfenstein Linux Binaries Available · · Score: 1

I too am interested in a Single Player Linux binary. Multiplayer on a dialup isn't much fun. I asked this same question on Blue's, and one of the commenters said they were planning one, but I don't know how much he knows:
