Who actually uses that validator crap? It whines about the stupidest things that is common in HTML code. In fact, I don't think I've found a single site that the validator doesn't yell at.
I'm puzzeled. If pi is random, doesn't that mean that you shouldn't (as in should not, can't be done, impossible, uncomprehendable, about as likly as "Planet of the Aps" ending not being lame) be able to find the Nth digit without knowing the previous digits. hmmm...
you'll note that I never said anything remotely like "at the cost of morale".
Sure seemed like that was what you meant.
Take Jordan away, and what do you get? Go look and see how well the Bulls have done since Jordan left.
Thats because THE ENTIRE team left. All the good players moved on. Being from Chicago I feel (as well as many many others) that Jordan kept Pippen from accomplishing all that he could...but lets not get into sports, that isn't a topic for nerds.:)
Don't get me wrong though. I agree with you that super programmers are wonderful if they work well with the team, otherwise I feel that they don't amount to much at all...speaking from a college group standpoint at least.
I've talked behind people's back and gotten a grand total of four layoffs (two of them above me, from our originally 14 person IT support team) in that last 6 months. I think it's starting to backfire though. Firstly, one of those guys was doing a lot more work than I thought, and I've been putting in some unpaid weekend time, which kind of sucks. Secondly, I think (not sure) one of the other guys keyed my car (a Yukon) and tried to slash the tires (probably didn't have a big enough knife, but I still had to get four new tires, which are damn expensive for a Yukon). I'm guessing it was him because there where a number of other cars in the lot that night and mine was the only one fucked with, and anyway he actually guessed or figured out that I got him fired, he told me I was a piece of shit to my face -- I thought he was going to beat the shit out of me, but he just left. He was probably unstable because his wife was divorcing him and taking the kids, but it's a merit based world -- justify yourself or loose, he he he.
Good, you're an ass hole if you do that. Talk to the person first, if that doesn't work, go to the boss of the boss and explain the problem. Just tackle it maturely and fairly and it usually works its way out.
If you are fortunate enough to employ such a person, coddle him, pay his outrageous salary, and put up with his inflated ego. He earned it, and if you don't your competitor surely will.
At the cost of employee moral? At the cost of espri-de-corps (sp?)? Never.
Yea, the Michael Jordan's of the world are great...but without the Scottie Pippens to pick up slack, and the Denis Rodmans to play defense all of a sudden the Michael Jordons don't look so good anymore, and the team that works together does.
Bottom line: Your team works as well as the crappiest member. If your team feels inferior, your team IS inferior.
If you're fortunate enough to emply such a person, coddle him, pay him his outrageous salary, and if his ego and attitude starts pissing everyone off but him, let him go.
Why I should buy a PS2 or X-box when its basically a PC on crack? Jesus, I'm starting to think if I wait a few years there will be no difference except the fact that I'll be a few hundred dollars ahead.
You're right...general crappyness. Like Shindler's List and Saving Private Ryan and E.T. and Jaws and Close Encounters of the Thrid Kind and....

You realize that when you watch movies like this they are not suppose to be super entertaining, they aren't suppose to pay attention to every bit of mechanical/structual/physical detail...
Everything that occured happened for a reason. IT showed he wasn't perfect, it showed that he valued striving to be human (or whatever you personally want to make of it) more than his concern for his personal saftey.
The last 20 min aside, this is probably one of the best movies ever made. A wonderful retelling of Pinnoccio.
I think you fail to realise that The Simpsons isn't just a cartoon "ment for all ages". Because it really isn't (but it is...puzzle that). First of all, unless you are an adult you miss a lot of the jokes (such as all the kubrik refrenceses or other such paradies), and besides, its more of a social commentary more than anything else...kinda like south park.
Its sad when people missjudge these shows because they cannot get past their face. Remember (now i have to sound corny) don't judge the book by its cover. A show cannot last 12 seasons with a movie on the way if its crap.
A lot of people are posting this so I feel a bit redundent, but this is sad. I'm not saying this only because of who he is, but of the age that he died. Its always sad to see people die and though it doesn't hurt when you don't really know the person, its kind of depressing to lose someone who made a big impact to society die so young. Anyway, thats all I really have to say. I hope he's having fun at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe...
Leave it to the french to put money into a project that will never become main stream...
I had Jabber installed for a bit and all i can say is that after error message after error message, and not being able to properly talk to ICQ users let alone AIM (this one isn't there fault though), i gave up and will stick to what works and is used by everone else. Hows that for a run-on sentence?!?:)
Heh...good luck. Just by glancing at the list there are about 100 missing from the Chicago Suburb list. I used to have a fatty listing of all Illinois BBS's in '94, and there were a hell of a lot more than what is on that list...likewise all over the country I would guess.
Don't count Hydrogen Peroxide out. The Germans were going to power their U-boats with it because it would allow the subs to achiece speeds of 25+ knots submerged. Givin the time period of design that is VERY impressive considering the alternate methods could only give you about 12-15 knots. Therefore given ~60 years of development i'd say he may be able to do it...though I think we'll all see him as the winner of the Darwin awards...
No. Don't throw in useless statistics to cloud the issue. Kids should be safe from dying in school PERIOD!!! Though I don't agree with this specific case, I uphold and believe in the system that seems to be in place now. Visiting home over Spring break this year I learned of two cases from local high schools (one was my own the other in a neighboring town).
One kid got expelled becasue he said "somtimes I could just stab my girlfirend in the head", and the other stated "I wish I could shoot a few people here." Both were expelled. Should they have been? As it turns out the latter of the two had a history of disruption and a "hit list" in his locker. The other however was probably just making a stupid comment to the friend and is now sueing to be re-instated.
Getting to my point. This kind of behiavior is unexceptable. No one should feel scarred to goto school whether its in the crappiest city or the nicest suburb. I personally feel these cases need to be taken on a case to case basis, but don't cloud the issue with statistics...blah blah blah less than one percent of schools...blah blah blah. No. Tell that the those who lost their children. Tell that to the dead kids who no longer have a future. After all...All the psychos out there like Timothy Veah(sp?) and John Wayne Gasey are well less than one percent of the population yet should we spot pursuing these people?
Now if "Wheel Of Time" was made into a 20 movie series...DAMN!
Too bad he's dead.

Yea, too bad it was directed by Steven Speilberg. Although it did kinda suck...But then again, you can't always make great movies.
