Yeah that works very well, you usually press it 6 times (3 minutes worth of skipping) and you're back to the show at exactly the right spot.
If that keeps working I'll be ok with Tivo, but if they take that away and/or display ads during the 30sec skip, they'll incur my wrath! I could live without Tivo. I don't want to, but I could.
It's beyond me why you'd want to shuffle songs and then not even know what you were listening to. You can listen to your same old stuff over and over but I like finding new music, and when I hear something I like I want to know what it is.
Shouldn't an ISP have a right NOT to carry any sort of traffic they don't want?
It's a crappy thing to do but as long as the ISP makes the restriction clear to their users I can't see the problem. Might not be a good business move but it should be their call.
If I can get phone calls routed across my toaster can the government force my electric company to carry the signals?
How much government involvement do you want in your Internet business? With regulation comes taxes. With taxes comes more regulation. And therein lies the dark side of the Democracy.
Why are all these companies even allowed to maintain databases on us? I know it's for credit and such, but is it the freakin' end of the world if creditors can't see your entire (but flawed & incomplete) credit history? I don't know of anyone that has any trouble getting credit, in fact the worse your credit is the more offers you seem to get.
So what if they give you a credit card and you're a deadbeat? If you read the fine print most credit cards have horrible consequences if you miss a payment, your interest rate skyrockets and you pay a big penalty.
This is *my* SSN, *my* bank accounts, *my* financial information. I want to be notified if and when anyone wants access to that information.
Advertisers want their ads shown and websites want to make advertisers happy. If the advertisers aren't happy then many of your fav websites will go away.
Also, just because someone is using FireFox doesn't necessarily mean they object to popup ads. I definitely do, but you can't say that everyone does. There are other good reasons to use FireFox.
First of all, I hear a lot of grumbling from eBay sellers that their fees have went up so much. People are exploring other auction sites like ePier.
Secondly, eBay can't even keep the "Make Money Fast" or "Make free money taking surveys" auctions off their site. Assuming they want to. All in all, I get the impression that the volume of auctions have them overwhelmed already.
What about those touch screens in cars now with different menus for radio controls, heating and AC, etc? That can't be a good thing to try navigating at 70MPH. What ever happened to having a knob or button for everything? I miss separate bass/treble/balance/fader controls on car stereos. I don't want to go through a menu to adjust them.
If MS keeps behaving the same way they have been, they'll welcome more bandwidth. Look at XP product activation. People have pretty much put up with it. That is a step down the slippery slope of losing control of your own personal machine.
If remote system administration is going to be a trend, I'm sure MS will be at the front. They'll either be there first or wait until a big player emerges and buy them out.
I've got 4 hard drives in my computer. Whenever I upgrade a hard drive or get a new computer, I copy all the older data to the new. I still have files from DOS days on my hard drive. I never delete games unless they're massive and I never play them. I have at least 10,000 MP3s. Tons of old-school text files from BBSs.
I have packrat tendencies in real life, but my dislike of clutter overcomes that.
Back in my day computers didn't do anything until we (dammit there's an IM) told them to! Now they won't shut up while I'm trying to (dammit there goes another e-mail) type. Next thing you know (new updates available, SHUT UP!) computers won't even need us, they can just surf the net by themselves and run our lives 24/7.;)
Another thing I'd like to see in Acrobat is a way to keep it from jumping to the next page when you are trying to scroll up & down on a multi-column page.

Oh yes, the Russians have such a stellar record of protecting their people and over-designing machines to be as safe as possible....
OTOH if the Russians conclude something is not safe, maybe we better watch out!

My Dension DMP3 player seems to play the same few songs (from hundreds of songs) each time I random-play a mix directory.
It's the rise of the machines I tells ya! They now have taste in music.

I see it listed, but when it click it, I get the normal iPod photo page with the 30GB and 60GB.
IMHO, the release of the SDK and TivoHME (http://tivohme.sourceforge.net/) is their best chance to attract new business.

We need a backup Earth for the eventual asteriod/alien invasion/global Tsunami/killer solar eruption that will eventually happen.

50 to 80 sure does suck compared to their former unlimited downloads though. I could download 50 to 80 in one session.
If Emusic can't get many popular bands, they need to come up with better terms than that.

:\
iPods are pretty dangerous too.
Why do they keep switching hosts every week? I think the only one left that was there 2 months ago is Sarah (rrowl!)
G4 is rapidly going down the toilet. At least that will give me one less reason to pay for digital cable.
I still like XPlay though.
I hate dreaming about being at work. Then you have to get up and do it all over again!
The worst I remember is going into a movie theatre and wanting to turn around and shoot the projector window (too much Duke Nukem 3d.)
But that was just a momentary whim, even if I was carrying a gun I wouldn't have even come close to pulling it out and shooting.
People must really walk around in a daze and/or take things too seriously.
You don't have to buy an iPod, and you don't have to use iTunes if you do. You don't have to buy music from Apple.
If your music collection isn't in MP3 format you're in for trouble at some point. MP3 is the universal standard. So stop collecting AACs...

CDs are so 20th century. Hard drives and flash memory are where all the action is, baby!
I've been trying to download it on a crappy dialup connection. Sorry, sorry.

It has to be centralized somewhere, how does your machine know where to connect to start searching? Random IPs?
