  2. I want both, but I'll take happiness on Pay vs. Happiness · · Score: 1

I don't get great pay at the tiny business where I work, but I work with 2 other people that are very easy to get a along with. There are no ego or personality conflicts. My boss isn't an idiot, he used to be a programmer too. I make my own schedule. Plus when I look out my window I see 40 acres of rolling hills, have access to a 200 yard shooting range, and get plenty of hand-me-down hardware and goodies.

So pay isn't everything. Besides, a lot of the best things in life are free.

I think the best way to get pay and happiness is run your own (successful!) business.

If many shows start getting flagged Tivo is in trouble. I leave many shows on Tivo for weeks, months, even a year before I watch them. That's what I like about Tivo, if I decide I want to watch The Simpsons at any given time I have several episodes to choose from.

The biggest reason to have Tivo is to watch TV on your own terms. This is the sort of thing that would inspire me to build a MythTV box.

I do most of my listening in the car. I live out in the country and commute 60 minutes a day to work, and if I go to the nearest city, it's 40 minutes each way. I put over 20,000 miles on my car each year. So that's LOTS of time to listen to MP3s.

Hell, I've listened to most of my music so much that I'm tired of it. A 4GB player wouldn't keep me entertained for a week, I'd be having to constantly swap new music onto the player.

An in-car MP3 player was really nice driving down to Florida. 12 hours of driving each way and hardly heard the same song twice.

Exactly. In games like Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2, I like the point-to-point races better than the lap ones.

I've always wanted to create an "Interstate Driving Simulator (tm)" where you can drive hundreds of miles flat-out on an Interstate highway, dodging cars and maybe cops. Or drive the speed limit and just listen to some tunes.

And regardless of the criteria, how exactly will Massive know I've viewed an ad? Unless it's an online game it's not getting past my firewall.

What was wrong with the first two prequels? People complain about Star Wars episodes not being highbrow enough, or adult enough, or complex enough, etc. Star Wars is supposed to be popcorn, not trout almondine. If you can follow the symbolism to see the film at another level, so much the better, but it's a mistake to look so hard for the deep meaning that you miss the fun at the surface.

Actually Episode 1 was TOO highbrow. Who cares about the "Trade Federation"? Nobody, that's who. There was no Han Solo character to bring things back down to the level of a common man. Obi Wan and Qui Quon are likable enough, but neither of them are much fun.

And the whole pod race thing took way too much of the movie.

Ok I'm done complaining about Ep 1. Ep 3 sounds great so far, I just have to quit reading reviews because there are too many spoilers in them.

There is absolutely no way for Sony to stop people from selling items outside of their game universes. They can say it's prohibited, but people will still do it. So setting up a safe, professional trade system will not only keep players happy but also cut down on fraud and make Sony more money at the same time.

It's a little dream of mine to make a living selling online RPG items. I could then justify the monthly costs of the games. :)
