I do not think it was trolling, if you are doing some serious work, get off your iPad. I have a iPad myself, and like many have stated before, its a device used to watch media and browse, you can stream video just fine at WIFI speeds, not sure what else you want to do here, if you really want a good connection plug a wire in. Wireless will never top a wired connection, you have to much interference, and retransmissions just at layer 1, its nice and all, but if you can plug in... do! I had a buddy recently buy a PC from Best Buy and paid the Geek Squad to hook his new PC up witha new wireless router, the router sat only a few feet on his desk, and still they hooked his PC up using the wireless connection, I changed that for him right way, why would you do that? Is the original poster asking for us to make wireless as good as wired? because thats not going to happen.
I agree with you, If you find something incriminating, then a good news paper would make sure it was worth the risks of exsposure etc.. I agree we lack a good news organization anymore it seems, but just releasing everything to the wild liek that is just stupid, information is power and you can just have total transparency. having the enemy know what you know dont make sense to me. But if something shows the goverment is doing something very wrong, like purposly killing inocent people and knew it, then you should release it.
Not true, even with IPv4 you can use all multicast ip space over for every single source ip on the internet, that was a change with IGMP v3, source specific multicast. I think the main problem has been that you have to get all backbone providers to route multicast everywhere, even to the home, and that just has never been done that I know of, and might not even with IPv6. Today cable companies use multicast to get video eveywhere on the own network, and it really would be a big waste of bandwidth for live real time events to use unicast all over the network.
I love my iPad for web browsing, but I thought I would be using it more for magazines, unfortunitly the lack of digital subscriptions made using the iPad for get more than a couple magizines was not worth it. Time = 4.99 an issue Maxim = 2.99 an issue Wired = 3.99 an issue
On the app store for almost everyone of these mags you will see people made that they can get a non digital subscription for $20 a year, but have to pay 60$ for a year on the iPad. And here I was hoping for a day when a digital copy would cost less than a paper one, simply because you dont have to print and send me anything. GO figure.
First let me state a couple things. 1. I have been a pretty big fan of Obama, voted for him, and think mayb e things he is doing are on the right track. 2. I have worked for a telephone company and also a very big cable company.
I would not have issues at with things like this if I felt like the consumer saw any of the benifits. Better internet connections for americans is a good thing, but for some reason the government has given money to these companies with no strings attached, and this has been done more than once before, while we see most cellular companies remove unlimited plans altogther and raise rates, and even though Cable and DSL speeds have gotten much better and more available, the prices could be much cheaper for something the government has helped pay for. If only it said 98% of the US would be covered with unlimited high speed wireless at very cheap prices, I might be more on top of this plan, seems like this is more corperate welfare to me, but maybe it spures jobs, my job, so ill shut up now:/
Same could be said for Google, its not like they are not out to make money also, I use Google allt he time, It makes a quick home page cause it quick to load, I have never used Bing at all, that said, I think Google's search has gotten worse over the years and tends to always have things at the top of the search that might be giving money to Google, I would say that any search engine tries first be the best to gain share, then use that market share to make more cash, so its good the keep each other in check.
"And 7 million is a small number in relation to pretty much any comparable statistic"
What are you talking about, 7 million is a great number for first year sales if you are selling about anything, thats more than the Xbox 360 or the PS3 did in the first year, and people knew what those things were and were much more well branded. Iphone sold 6 million the first year, and I think they might be happy with the sales there also, so you your a idiot.
I will admit I own a iPad, but I am no apple fan boy, I could write many things I do not like about the iPad, mostly things that Apple has done on purpose, but I have been around Mac computers for years and never had a reason to buy one myself, just use them for some audio tools etc... I love to play games on the iPad, but the biggest reason to get one would be if you want to sit back and relax and read webpage's on one, to get you away from your desk, you can read the same thing on a laptop sure, but the iPad is very nice for reading and relaxing, sure it's just a big iPod touch, that pretty much sums up all tablets really though. That being said, the problem is not that people are getting sick of iPads in general and that's why the people are not buying as many magazines online, it's because the distribution method is terrible, you cannot buy a yearly subscription on any of the magazines I have looked at, and the costs are ridiculous to buy a magazine once a month, so yes like me most people bought a couple magazines to see what is was about, its looks cool, I can read it fine, but that price point does not work for me if you want me to buy for a year. Why would you charge more for a digital copy of a magazine that should cost them way less to produce and distribute? if a single magazine costs 5 dollars, but you can get a paper subscription for 29.99 a year, but the only option for a digital version of that magazine is to buy the 5 dollar version every month, then I think you found your problem!
I am looking forward to many more cool tablets and toys, bring them all on, ill choose the best tablet, but just admit that Apple has a advantage right now and if you dont want a tablet at all, thats fine, its not something everyone has to have like a phone.
It just takes awhile, most providers have turned it one on the backbone routers, but run it in parallel with IPv4 and they just need to push IPv6 to the edge, eventually everyone will be able to run duel IPv4 and IPv6 stacks on your pc (you can do this today if you want to setup a tunnel). I am still not sure of the plan for getting IPv4 address to talk to IPv6 address using some kind of ISP grade NAT between IPv4 and IPv6 at all, I need to read around on it.
I would think it would be possible to do a 1 to 1 translation that would not have the downsides of hiding several IPv4 addresses behind 1 IPv6 address that causes protocol issues , each IPv4 address would have its own corresponding IPv6 IP that would be mapping to it, this should just be mapped in certain ranges, so its predictable. Then when everyone is done with IPv4 and every service is on IPv6 you can free up the IPv6 space that was being used for this mapping.
I agree, I would say that the part of driving these cars he is good at it the hardest part to be good at, know he needs to decide if he wants to really drive these things, or just be kind of the online car racign world I guess.
On a side note, if you check the iracing website you will see Dale Earnhardt Jr allot, I am not in to racing at all myself, even though I live in Charlotte NC where Nascar is pretty big, I used to work for a telephone company near the raceway, and Dale Dr. lives close to there, anyway he had a T1 line put in from us awhile back (sure something better now adays) but he was having issues with his Nascar game connection from his PC to play the game, I did not do phone support, but a guy that did the install, and as you would expect really liked Dale got me on the phone and had me try to help, as it turned out dale had setup NAT port forwarding correctly in his router for the game to work, but the guy that installed our T1 router also had turned on NAT in that router and it should have just been giving Dale a public IP not a NATed private one that Dale was then NATing again. Anyway, one thing I can say is that Dale was smart about reading what he was supposed to do forwarding ports etc in his router (that was back before everyone had these NAT routers) and he was a really nice guy about everything while I talked to him and was happy we fixed the issue quickly. Talking to the guy that did the install he said Dale had a steering wheel hooked up and was all setup to race in his house, and was totally in to racing online! now like I said I am not in to racing myself, but I love to play games online, and even though Dale might not think of this as a game, older racers would probably think online racing is silly, and I thought I was pretty cool that he races online all the time like this, abd was a down to earth guy.
I loved this game, and I think people baked these numbers of people cheating, I never once used a bot and constantly got called a cheater from evey person I killed. There were some people cheating, but almost every person I played with and we played really well together using a vent server etc, we all got called cheaters all the time, as if we were all running around boting seeing threw walls, when its more like they sucked, were really predictable, and we convered places well and used our heads and communicated well. There were some known cheaters that admitted they cheated, but even those guys could love a match if you played it well. The game needed some different missions and some things changed, but the game played really well, just like other simple games like Quake its not the game or levels that really make the game, its the players and the gameplay that keeps the game fresh, this only works with games that really play well though, and I thought APB did a great job of this.
I understand that, but its nice that when they say the battery lasts 10 hours it really does, I am very used to most things saying it lasts 5 hours and that means when you are not doing anything with it really, you actually want to watch a full movie and it only lasts 2 hours or something. Think it was the Android Samsung tablet (cant remember) that said it could do atleast 7 hours, but I would like to see a real world test, then they will say well it last 7 hours if you are only reading a book with no speakers in use or something. I recently also bought a Logitech Ipod Dock that really does sound very good and has a recharable battery, it said it would last 7 hours, I get about 2 hours out of it when I am blasting it pretty loud, but I am sure they mean 7 hours if you have it at a low volume or something.
I am no Apple fanboy and I understand that most people who buy a 830$ device like this will always justify it somehow to themselves and others, but when I bought this thing it was because I had bought a new ipod touch and found myself playing with the internet features and games allot, I had a PSP just for mobile games and it sucked I never played it. So I took the Ipad touch back and upgraded to the iPad, I use it tons for just reading news sites like this one, while not being attached to my desk all the time and books and magazines will be nice.
Because my mobile phone is paid for by my employer (Blackberry) I really did not want another phone and phone number to mess with, this iPad kinda filled a gap I had were I did not get to play with a nice phone, even my wife has a Android I bought her and loves it.
I really was surpised the battery on this thing does so well though, I have like 15 movies on it, and netflix and can stream a full movie on it and the battery goes from 100% to like 85%, I am used to things never actually working as advertised and I have to give Apple props here because I did not really expect that when I bought it.
I am sure my next tablet will be a Andriod, I tend to like things I can mess with myself, always built my own PC's and never liked Mac computers much really, fact that Apple did not add a SD Card slot to the iPad should be a crime in my eyes, but the more I played with this thing the more I forgot about it, I am sure it will piss me off more when 64gig gets smaller and smaller as things go on (already filled it up day one with movies and music), and you can't just stick a SD Card in the damn thing.
I figured that buying a first gen iPad will be fine, and i will just wait and let the new Android tablets battle over what will be best hardware for awhile anyway it will take them some time to get good apps and everythnig worked out on the new Android tablets I would assume.
To me this all seems like exactly how MacOS got killed my MS back in the day, sure MS was not open source, but Apple had a jump start and a advantage, and let it slip away because they refused to not lock down the hardware that the system ran on, keeping it very expensive. Mac users always said the same thing as now, it's a better user experience and it just works, but lots of people wanted to be able to use more hardware options and build it cheaper, there was much more software written for the PC back in the day, little tiny apps like on tucows was fun to just try stuff out.
As soon as Android is even close to the iPhone, lots of people will jump ship, because it's cheaper and offers much more options of hardware, just the fact you can put a SD card in it and expand the storage on the Android is a huge plus, and is a big tell that Apple is just crazy when it comes to control of this device.
It seems like Apple has always wanted to much control of things, and always told the consumer it was in their best interest, why would they think it will work out better for them this time? Apple right now has a better user experience, and I just bought a iPad that I really love, but apps crash all the time on it too, I own 2 other iPods and have always loved them for taking 60 gigs of music with me everywhere etc... But I am sure that once a GOOD well done tablet running Android comes out, my next tablet will not be from Apple, I would love to be able to put more storage in this thing, I bought the 64gig version just because of that. One thing I love about the iPad that people don't make enough noise about is that even if you make the same user experience as the iPad on another tablet, the battery on this thing is unbeatable from anything else I have seen, I get about 10 hours of watching video the whole time, it lasts all day pretty easily even with heavy use! but Android will caught up and offer me more options eventually, I have already been looking for a app that does a certain thing I need, like hide a app from view or something, and can only find the apps if I jail break my Ipad, well I don't want to do that, but seems strange that Apple would not allow a app that does this on their store in the first place, what do they care if I want to hide a app from people I let play with the thing? they do seem to want to control the store way too much.
No the TheRaven64 is correct, no thoery about it, the noise you are hearing probably has more to do with the fact you are powering your speakers threw the USB port and have a grounding issue or something. Its 2010 and the fact you still have to explain to people how a digital connection works is getting old. Unless you want to argu that digital conenctions like a USB connection typicaly drop 1's and 0's all the time, then there really is no theory to argu about here.
I know Trent reznor and also Jay Z have released whole albums in multi track formats, I have never messed with it, but I think it great they do this. The NIN site has many remixes of Trents songs in a player and you can just let them play, its actually really good, and great to listen to while you work. You might be surprised at how good some are!
I agree with you 100% I am going to miss this game way more than any of the other games that have gone away, I bought Hellgate also, and never missed it a bit, even though I was hoping it was going to work, it did not have anything on this game.
Let me start by saying that I think APB has gotten a bad rap, and had many bad reviews it truly did not deserve. APB had some real flaws no doubt, but this game excels were so many have failed, and is something new and fresh in many ways, to give some many redundant games good reviews then crush this game cause it had some flaws but is doing something new and fun is to mislead many people who might have found a home as I did in APB. I saw many people reply back to bad reviews, with comments says they were glad they did not waste their many, well I wasted my money and now the game is gone, and I still do not regret playing this game a bit, and will miss this game more than most, so there were possibly countless people who never got the chance to try this game now, and that is because so game reviewers got this game wrong, dead wrong. The main thing about APB is you needed to play with some friends, or at least in a group. you needed to use ventrillo or at least the in game voice chat, to be able to communicate with people on your team and get in to some real fire fights and use some good strategy. I truly got in to some of the best game play and some of the best fire fights I have ever played in a game, and that says allot, I am old and have play most FPS games and something about this game shined in that regard. This game also had many bad missions, that chose to send people casing each other around the map instead of fighting, to sometimes end with a team winning in the last second and no one felt good about those missions in the end. Some missions just never made any sense to me, where one team have lives they could lose, and the other team did not, and some missions just had you run around and do some stuff and no opposition ever showed up, it felt like a waste of time to me. I think the CCG gun at the end was a unbalanced, and cheating did get worse, but I got called a cheater many times and I never cheated in the game, so I think it was not as big a problem as many thought, the problem of people calling others cheaters was a worse problem in my opinion. The cheating problem could be fixed or at least kept as a reasonable level like in any of these games, and the missions could have been easily made better, and there was so much potential for some great missions that now will never be, the game never really got a chance and was in trouble early, I think the bad reviews helped put a undeserved nail in the coffin of what could have been a really big game. Some things that APB had going for it, there was some much, the customization engine of this game, was fabulous and I never have seen so much diversity in a game before, and you could tell people were really in to their characters and the cars they drove. Even though there were only 2 cities, they were well done, and were designed well, the engine was beautiful, even though I bought a new PC right before the game was out, and that definitely helped, this was a awesome looking game when ran with the video options turned up. The car models looked great and the overall graphics and art work on everything was top notch, even the UI was very well done in this game, everything just looked polished like something I big game company would put out, not like many of the games I have bought that were good, but you could tell they passed on many of these things. Another thing that people do not talk about is how the how the game felt when you are running around fighting, many game just do not feel right, it feels to me like you have a broom handle shoved up your butt, you move to stiff and it's hard to quickly move and help people, this game always felt really good to me, it played so well that I think it was not talked about cause you do not notice these things when they are done this good. The fact that this game is ju
Repetitive game play does not necessarily make a bad game, many FPS type games are just he same game over and over with different maps, and most the time there are a few maps that everyone just plays all the time. Its the actual gameplay that makes the game new and different, you can play the same map 1000 times and the fight changes with new tactics and players. Its only in non shooter type game that this gets very old to me. Dont get me wrong the missons could have been much better, and given a chance I am sure this would have changed allot.
Downloaded the game several times, never had a issue with curruption. Did have some crashs, but mostly was pretty solid, sure to get better. I always played with people in my clan, maybe you should have joined one? it was a team game, and relying on pick up groups in any MMO always puts you at a huge disadvantage. The idea that "It was nearly impossible to get rewards yourself because of all the cheating" is not right at all, just playing the game allot you got haded things constantly from your mission contacts, even a 2 slot gun of any of serveral types were always a good gun, oca, ntec,jg,hvr and others were all good weapons. Even once I got a 3 slot weapon with all level 3 upgrades I got killed many times but good players that had a 2 slot weapont hat was many times cheaper. If you just played win or lose, it did not matter you eventully leveled up and got handed nice enough weapons to compete with about anyone, and if you jsut had a good team the cheating was more anoying that a real issue, only sometimes did I run it to a whole group of cheaters and then we just moved to a new district. Also I was called a cheater many times and never cheated, so I think in games like this to many people figure "I am bad as hell, no way I could have lost, they are cheating!", I know a couple times It might have looked like I cheated cause I threw a grenade jsut guessing someone was somewhere and killed them, and they asumed I cheated etc, saying NO WAY YOU KNEW I WAS THERE! well its called luck dumbass, you play enough it happens!
BS, some states have made near impossible for unions to exist, and that is exactly what the corporations are doing here, unions do the same thing, they find what is the average or best pay a worker can get for a certain job and make sure all people that do that job get the same pay, this is no different, except when the corporation's do it, it's ok, and when people try to do it for themselves its somehow not ok. Call me a socialist all you want, seems to be very popular right now to call people that, but if sticking up for people and not just companies is being a socialist, then sign me right on up!
Dont know what game you played, there is constantly people running around on the servers I play on. I was addicted to this game, sure it had cheaters and some terrible missions, but the game was funt o play and I enjoyed beating the cheaters with a good team you could beat anyone. It definitly needed to be tweeked and some new misisons and gameplay mechanics, but the game looked good, played very well, I had some of the best fire fights in a online game ever and I have been playing FPS games for a very long time. It just meeded some love, like most the other game like this need at the beginning.
I beleive this does take twice the bandwidth, I know that Nvidia's soulution says you have to have atleast a 120Hz display, they call them "3D Vision-Ready Displays" and have a list on the website. 3d TV's would have to have the same high Hz rating so that you can basicly send twice the amount of information across the HDMI link to the TV. For every normal 60 progressive frames, you would have 2 frames, one for each eye. I would assume the encoding is different and a software update was needed in the PS3. The blue ray disk would hold twice the information, but a video game would take more processing power since you would render each scean twice one slightly off from the other to create a left and right eye version of a 3d scean. Your PC must have had drivers installed with the glasses etc.
Yea my parents were pissed, whats even more screwed up about it is, that I had 2 weeks or so in school waiting for a school hearing to determine my punishment, during that time I saw the principle showign the device off to other people several times. During the hearing the principle, while sitting up in the stand, shocked his ball point pen that was part metal and when sparks flew he jumped from his seat in a total acting job, since I knew he had been playing with the dame thing as much as I was. If I ever see that guy I am punching him in his face!
I got kicked out of 11th grade for the year, and had to go to a "excluded student school" for that year cause I made a device that would shock people out of a camera flash. it was total BS.

Not helped by the fact that lots of us are home from work because of the snow, and need porn today!

Should it not read "Why Asshole Warriors not Geeks run the world?"
