As long as I've heard from gas users, any fuel car is able to be transformed in a gas car (where you can switch between both sources at any moment)... You only need space under the seats to carry the gas bottle which's size determines the hours of autonomy of the car... What I do not know well is if there is any car that works with a real alternative energy like Hydrogen. There was an interesting article about it some months ago in Slashdot. It was about the discovery of huge sources of hydrogen.
People that need to use that sort of chastity belt shouldn't think. These are the actual users of digested products like M$, and all the like. They think that if they pay, it must be correct. Is it possible to fence the mountain?

Hi, I think that user friendlyness is M$'s goal - but obscure help systems and paranoic anti-competition devices are what have being weakening the justified money that people keeps on paying for that software. Those great developers are getting less and less creative at every new release because of those reasons. And they are not able to deal with the new improvements in a user friendly way. It all seems to have become another 'Powertoy' (that means that is not completely implemented yet). Of course, that even when you are not getting paid for some new security or sofisticated software added at a program, you are selling it and creating a new tendency at the market. That is one of the effects of Linux creations, creating new consumers tendencies!
I remember I used the ancient MsDOS and in the manual it explained that it was aiming to become a UNIX version for PCs. Unix was meant for big hosts that were really multitasking.
Besides, I think that admitting that the comfort of Windows is better that LINUX or GNU is admitting that one has never written a line of code.
And especially that one has never had the needs of reading the obscure manuals of Microsoft.
Or never knew that that company makes it hard to any competence to get the code to plug something new to MS!
Those things show that the real intention is to prevail as the only company that would survive (in a comercial world).
But when I discovered LINUX I found every single line of good code that I thought that was lost in the history of PCs. LINUX is people!
If she goes to a "high class" party (Puritan, of course) and when she comes in, she is left alone in a clean and safe room. What would she think about those people? Does she smoke?
I believe that if the creators of the religious virus that infected once the Roman Empire and made them fall could do it 1500 years ago, it sure could be done again, thousands of times better now.
What was left of that slaves' movement after Constantine is nothing more than the ruins that where left of their confrontation against the Roman Empire.
Sure that those ruins would work for a standard empire, but we had to have the memories of the real fight erased!
I mean, we now believe that the bad guys of the Jesus' story where the Jews and not the Roman Empire! That is a real erasure, don't you think? (Jesus was a Jew, but is never mentioned as that).
The good soldier goes to one of these toillets that plays music randomly.
And just when starts the defecation, he has to stand up because it starts playing the national anthem...
All these reminds me of a comment made by a well known Ballet creator that said that culture is not something to put in an untouchable degree. But the envision (sorry for my english) that the whole comunity elaborates of their every day living.
I think that it would be helpful to appreciate the perspective that one could have of a problem when one is a constant reader compared with people that are used to get diggested information of things.
I conclude that there should be business people taking proffit of Open Source products. They should act as a buffer and should do the client support and also put the face to be demanded if the software fails.
The suitch keeps on being the same: different concepts and different way of supporting real good software...
I wouldn't use the same point of view as a commercial bussiness. As Linus once said: don't compare. Just enjoy doing!
I know that I wouldn't envy M$ because it is not a fact of discussion that paid people should work well with what others might need free time to correct several times.
But the idea is to switch the comercial factor that limits creation for another point of view, a more progressive one. (think of Bau-Haus in art)
In war times, the leader is the one that fornicates under consent of the king to everybody.
That shouldn't be! And I respect all vices!
Sorry if I am not good at understanding the whole context of english speaking. I enjoy just what I can understand. But I guess that intolerance and expectance of perfection are what are common things that are leading these times to this flat-black&white world.
Everybody is afraid of getting their intentions of starting flying missinterpreted. So it is easier to follow the cattle and risk less.
I propose to increase opinions, to be able to ask for votes to change things.
Technical improvements must follow social ones
Emperor Marcus Aurelius once said: "If you can't change people, you must endure them..."
It is very easy to destroy what others build without the compromise of proposing something new in exchange. Less ideals and more actions! (if I break something it is fair to break something inside myself at the same time)
Things must be hard for everyone during these days, aren't them?
I doubt this preconception. But these times seem to believe that all is in perfection. Linux, in my case, is the land of hope. Where everything may come true anytime. Would someone think the same about Windows?
Let us put it clearer.
What matters, IMHO is what is the optimum equipment that can be bought for the minimum ammount of money. Not what is all that one artist could buy.
I mean, everybody knows that there are always new and improved scanners in the market, for example. So you do not have to have it, just have a Zip drive to go to the shop where they have the new scanner and scan what you need and copy the file in the zip disk.
The point is what is the minimum optimized equipment required.
At least, proletarians are going to become useful at last.

The end is coming soon (I think)...
Now it seems that pleasure can justify slavery, at least, in cases of extreme danger: like a bomb...
