I'm not sure that's a good idea. I mean, in the end we all know it comes down to willpower. Having people here explain how they broke their addictions is probably very motivating, and I think that motivation is what is needed.

As I said in my earlier post, only YOU can do something about the addiction. Remember that, all the time!!

When I wanted to stop smoking (I know this is about caffeine, but I think quitting smoking is very similar), the hardest part was not the first few days when I felt bad (because at that time I hated cigarettes, knowing they were causing the pain). The worst part was when I "let my guard down", a month or two after quitting. You keep thinking about the nice relaxing feeling of having a cigarette, and all the pain you go though to quit almost disappears from you mind. This is when you MUST remember the pain you went through to quit.

You know, when I grew up my dad would always let me make my own choices. My dad is a vegitarian who doesn't drink alcohol. However, he would still let me eat whatever I wanted, and he didn't mind me drinking. He thought I'd make the best choice for myself in the end. The one thing my dad always told me though, was to never get addicted to anything, because there is a chance there will come a time when you cannot get what you are addicted to. He'd tell me the story of when he was in a refugee camp, and my grandfather was a heavy smoker (40+ cigarettes a day). In the refugee camp, there was no cigarattes (this was in the end of the 60's). He'd tell me about the pain my grandfather went though, and that I had the choice of never putting myself in a position where I would have to go though the same pain.

Still, I started smoking when I was sixteen.

I quit smoking too, and I did it cold turkey a few years ago. I didn't smoke for two years, but then I picked it up again (at burning man of all places in the world).

Second time around, I was really pissed off at myself. I decided enough is enough, and I stopped, and haven't smoked for a while now. I've been weak at the pub a few times since I quit the second time, but I've managed to recover pretty nicely. Next morning when I woke up after having a cigarette in the pub, I decided it was only a minor setback, and I went on track straight away. Now it's been a few months since I had the last cigerette, and I feel really good.

It may have been easier for me to quit smoking than a lot of people, because I didn't actually like smoking. I hated what it did to my throat. I'd wake up with a bad throat, and that annoyed me.

BTW: I was smoking for around 7 years in total.

I know that you are trying to break a caffeine addiction, but quitting smoking is very similiar. You just have to do it cold turkey. If it gets really bad, just remember why it is that way. Instead of thinking that a cup of coffie will fix the problem, remember that it is the source of the problem. You've come as far as asking for help, that means you really wanna quit... just do it!!

In the end, only YOU can do it. Remeber that.

If someone cracks the client, they can corrupt portions of the feed/website that is being served

You don't need to crack anything, just download the source and re-write it best you want... bittorrent is kinda open source.
Furthermore, corrupted files being sent out is already happening today, which is why some clients (I use the shadow bittorrent client) have an option of banning any user that sends corrupted data. Every now and then, my client will have banned a user or two, so this is already happening, and there is a solution in place.

Then there's also the chicken-and-egg problem of discovering the .torrent file (or its equivalent) in the first place: someone still has to serve it so that you can jump-start your torrent madness, and that someone can get slashdotted easily.

Agreed, this is definately the problem. However, a site that can "almost" deal with the bandwidth without using bittorrent, will probably be better off using it than not using it.
I don't think this is the ultimate solution to bandwidth problems, but it may help improve the current situation, which is really what is needed.

Anyways, there isn't any point in using bittorrent anywhere, as the ??AA's will close it down soon, regardless of how it's being used.

Unfortunately, I don't think that advert support TV is going to disappear. We're gonna get digital TV soon, with broadcast bits set. Anything recorded with a broadcast bit set cannot be fast forwarded.

    So, what's gonna happen now?
    Well, here's my prediction.

    1, TV companies complain.

I had some minor problems with my AE-100 (red/green tint in the picture), but this was a known problem with the AE-100, and it is solved in the AE-200 and AE-300.
In my livingroom I have the AE-300 running, projecting a 110 inch screen. If you get the right signal to it (progressive NTSC or VGA), the projector is unbeatable by anything in the same pricerange (asuming you want a WideScreen projector).

I read A LOT of articles/reviews/forums before going for the sharp, and with the AE-300, I'm really happy! You'd be able to get the AE-300 for under $2000, and you can get the AE-100 for around $1000 (although you should be aware of the red/green tint in the picture on the AE-100).

I like electronic music, Astral Projection being one of my favourite bands. I have every sinlge mp3 they have ever had up on mp3.com, and I have ordered several CDs from mp3.com, most of them being Astral Projection, but a few others as well.
I don't know that mp3.com looks like now, but when I was using it (haven't used it for about 6 months), you could see how much every band was earning. Looks to me like Astral Projection was making enough money from just mp3.com to make a living.

Add the fact that they DJ and release commercial records (although all the tunes can be leeched from mp3.com for free), I think that you CAN make a living, even though you are giving away your music for free. Astral Projection is the best example of this that I can think of.

If you're good, people like me will buy your music. I'm not buying Astral Projection cd's for any other reason that to support them. I like them and I want them to make more music. Instead of buying the CDs, I could have just DLed the music and burnt it myself, but I choose not to!

My advice to you, keep trying, it isn't impossible to make money, its just difficult (but hey, if it was easy, everyone would do it).
If you are making the music to make a living out of it, try to get a record contract and join the croud of people who are in it for the money.
If you are making music because you enjoy it, start off by giving it away. The number of DL's rising should be sufficient payment for you, and if you're good, you WILL make money.

Then again, I'm not a musician, and everything in this post is just my opinions. Some may agree with me, other may thinks its pure BS. Either way, I have excellent karma, and whats the point of that if you dont spend some of it every now and then :)
