Here's are teh REAL questions, are they going to blow another couple billion in unrecoverable waste on Xbox 720? Have they learned that they are woefully bad at diverging from their core business? Are they stealing resources and talent better used on their core business? The answer is certainly no, pride overcomes good business at Microsoft 9 times out of 10.

My Dad went to Andover with him and listened to the "stick ball" speech, later he majored in history at Harvard, got a law degree from Columbia and a JD so I think he is entitled to his opinion both personal and historical on Bush. He says "Bush was the worst president since Harding" and "...did 100 years of damage to the US economy."

My opinion is that Bush was a kakistocracy (government by the least qualified or most unprincipled citizens) created by the dominists to defame the federal government an encourage ass-clowns the tea bag express. I think Bush was not only the worst president in living memory but more importantly he was a "domestic enemy" of the constitution who signed a law that directly attacked the 4th amendment. Harding merely allowed the secessionist southern senators to allocate money to the south after secession, a crime of inaction rather than a premeditated attack of the Constitution.

Carter, are you kidding? Not great, or even good but he didn't cause the energy crisis, he didn't cause the helicopters to flip on the way to Tehran, he sure as hell didn't negotiate, then delay the release of the hostages in an arms deal with our enemies like the Reaganites. He didn't buy into the John and Allan Dulles model of political change through CIA sponsored overthrows of democratically elected governments in Iran. Did you know that buying "Firewall: The Iran-Contra Conspiracy and Cover-up" by the Iran Contra prosecutor Lawrence Walsh used to get you on the federal watch list? I wonder why?

I am pretty sure you are repeating other people opinions without critical thought with a flippant nod to conservatives so I'll forgive you, but only barely.

"You want one of these then, not a cellphone."
I don't want to needlessly carry multiple devices. I might want to talk about confidential things. I might want to use my Jawbone that is already in my ear. I don't think "why would you want to do it that way" is a interesting question relating to the abilities devices when they are only limited by software.

"Making cell phones that are also cell repeaters is very simple as long as you don't mind huge phones that output enough power to toast your bagel while you're waiting."
Not all the time, how about just when needed? E.g. Ack(help I have no tower!)Sed(I can see you, I can see the tower, are you sure you can't see the tower?)Ack(help me random phone, you are my only hope!)Also the broadcasting and receiving device in a wireless system HAVE to be able to see each other, this is why 250mw on a DD-WRT WRT54G can cause problems, the computer can see the router but the router can't see the computer. Towers can see mobile phone's broadcasts; believe it or not.

"As long as you aren't expecting cellular carriers to subsidize the cost of your equipment for you..."
I am not expecting shit from an oligopoly but somehow I get shitty coverage. I do buy my own equipment because I want to control my property not be someone's bitch for a trifling discount over the life of the device.

"...there's no reason they would disable anything on a handset."
You would think so but you would be wrong. Take for instance the Nokia e71 vs. e71x. I have had both. The e71x WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO CHOOSE EDGE VS. 3G. This means when I am at home and have 1/2 a bar of 3G (just enough for the little fucker to keep trying) and 5 bars of EDGE I cannot use my phone. As a share holder in AT&T I sent them a very angry letter asking them why they spent my money to have a software engineer make a handset worse. I have not gotten a reply but I have heard a conference call where the investors asked similar question at an institutional investor level. I know why they do it to a certain extent e.g the Nokia e61x where they disabled the Wifi so prevent using VoIP over 802.11 instead of cellular circuit switched voice.

Why did you take time out of your life to post this apologist bullshit?

A phone that could route calls through it peers seems far more community driven than some new interface. I want to be able to call someone 10 feet away without a tower, I want tol be able tol reach a tower by routing through my neighbor or his femtocell, I want an idle cell that can see a network to be a tower. Oh yeah and I want people to know that if you buy your own hardware at&t can't disable the good shit.
