I've only had my TIVO for a week, so I'm sure I haven't explored all the functionality, but the TIVO guide is transparent, so you can see the program behind the guide. It is split into two sections, the left side lists the channel numbers and what is currently on, the right side lists the next 8-10 programs that are on the channel you have selected.
I have digital cable and it does take about 3-5 seconds to change the channel, which would be a bit slow if I were surfing through the channels one at a time, but with the guide button (TIVO's guide layout is the best I have ever seen), I just look though the guide, find what I want, and switch to it. One channel change and I'm done. As far as TIVO not letting you go to certain channels, this is not a problem because the digital cable box is still controling the signal, and TIVO is just changing the channel using the IR blaster.
Yes, someone has to simply administer the payments......and develop a phone and e-mail systems to allow these payments to be made....and get everyone in the world to switch over to these systems.....a couple of "minor" details.
EXACTLY!!! I have friends who worked at these companies while they were in college. They don't give a crap about you or your right to privacy or anything like that. If you are an asshole to them, you probably will end up right back in the queue to be called again. Asking them nicely to take you off their list is the best approach.
The point is, unlike bulk snail-mail, you are in control of whether or not you receive spam. If I set my level at $50, I probably won't receive much spam. If I set it at $50,000, I likely won't receive ANY spam!! In theory, it sounds like a great idea, but I don't think it is something that could actually be implemented.
The article is suggesting that the recipient sets the cost for the spam. So if you send me a spam and I set the cost of sending me a spam at $50, then you are out $50. I doubt many people would set the cost at 5 cents.
Most Linux geeks I know (I am certainly not one) love to brag about the old, crappy systems they can run Linux on because it such a superior operating system that it doesn't require the computing power that Windows does.

That is the worst analogy I have ever seen!! The games are not being obtained illegally, and sharing a game is hardly the same thing as sharing your wife!!!!! Blockbuster shares games all the time. They are only limited by the number of copies they own, which is also the case for consoleclassix.com.
Read the fucking article!! The chances of someone actually being infected are almost ZERO, because the virus needs IE 5.5 or lower and Visual Studio.NET requires IE 6!!
There were some really great Apple II games!!! Choplifter, Zaxxon, Pac-man, Oregon Trail (the old text version where you would hunt by typing "BANG" or "POW" as fast as possible)........ahhh, memories...
The problem is, even with tiered pricing, they still don't offer shit for upload speeds. Charter offers four levels 128/128, 256/128, 768/128, and 1500/384. You have to spend like $80 a month to get 384 up.
The way I understand it, certain ISP's are being blocked because they are unresponsive to complaints about spam. If people are blocked off from the rest of the world using a certain ISP, they will switch ISP's. Enough people do this and the ISP will start to take notice. In the meantime, we get less spam because the ISP is blocked.

IMHO, Road Trip was a MUCH funnier movie than American Pie!!
I can too!!! I don't see what the fuss is about.

That's a really good idea!!!! I'd love to play those old games again on my TV instead of my PC!!

I agree. This is hilarious, but only slashdot diehards can appreciate the humor.

How are you letting the spammers win when you block their spam from reaching its destination??
Change the registry keye
